In Honor Of Big Miracle, The 5 Best Movie Whales

Posted: 02/ 2/2012 3:34 pm

With "Big Miracle" being released this weekend, I was told that it's my responsibility to write a best movie list in conjunction with its arrival in theaters. I find this peculiar. My instructions were so specific and, for the life of me, I can't figure out how this topic relates at all to "Big Miracle." Alas, I'm not one to ignore a direct order from a superior, so here's a list of the Best Movie Wails. [Ed. note: No, you spelled it wrong; we meant "Best Whale Movies."]

Nicolas Cage in "The Wicker Man"

In "The Wicker Man," Nicolas Cage wails, "Not the Bees!"

Faye Dunaway in "Mommie Dearest"

In "Mommy Dearest," Faye Dunaway wails, "No wire hangers!"

William Shatner in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan"

In "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan," William Shatner wails "Khaaaaaaan!"

James Earl Jones in "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith"

In "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," James Earl Jones wails "Nooooo!"

Mel Gibson in "Braveheart"

In "Braveheart," Mel Gibson wails "Freedom!"

Why do I have the feeling that this piece here is about the most *entertainment value* this film is likely to provide? I can imagine more than a few wails of anguisg coming from the audience while watching this turkey.

That's a very punny homonym.

Excellent. I especially like that Star Trek actually has whales built into it's mythology, but still were avoided.

I actually like The Voyage Home quite a bit. But, yeah, wrong "whale."
