Thirty years later, this collection was found languishing in the basement of Swedish Television; director Goran Olsson and co-producer Danny Glover brought this footage to light in this remarkable documentary.

• 'One Day': (2011) This 21st century variation on 'Same Time, Next Year' follows two friends -- working class teacher Anne Hathaway, who dreams of becoming a writer, and spoiled rich kid Jim Sturgess, who's unhappy with his playboy life -- through two decades by letting us glimpse key moments of their relationship experienced over several July 15ths (the anniversary of the day they met) in their lives. Interesting plot idea (based on a book) gives us snippets of sex and drama and little else. And throws in a bogus ending for good measure.
• 'Our Idiot Brother': (2011) This sleeper of a comedy stars Paul Rudd as an organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of others -- and his own honesty -- gets him in trouble -- and causes trouble for his three sisters (Emily Mortimer, Elizabeth Bank and Zooey Deschanel) when he stays with each of them after being booted off his homestead by his ex-girlfriend. Though the film is outright silly at times, the excellent cast and the film's straight-ahead momentum makes for a pleasing viewing experience.

• 'The Adventures of Tintin: Season One': (2011) To prepare for Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures of Tintin,' due Dec. 23, you might want to take a look at the precursor, 'The Adventures of Tintin,' adapted from the long-running French comic strip and graphic novels (begun in the 1920s) by the late cartoon artist Herge (a.k.a. Georges Remi) that chronicles the young and intrepid investigative reporter Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy, as they embark on incredible globe-trotting adventures full of excitement, mystery and fun. The first season of the 1991 animated TV series has just been released as a two-disc set with 13 episodes.
• 'Becoming Santa': (2011) A humorous documentary that follows one man's journey to regain his Christmas spirit. After Jack Sanderson's parents died, he realized he wasn't looking forward to the holidays and, in a dominant commercial culture, avoiding Christmas seemed impossible. So with that, Jack decided that the best way to get through the Christmas Season was to become Santa Claus. Director Jeff Myers followed Jack on his journey, which entailed getting a custom Santa suit from Adele Saidy of Adele's of Hollywood, attending the American Events Santa School taught by Susen Mesco in Denver, Col., and ultimately booking Santa jobs.
• 'Carjacked': (2011) During a routine stop at a gas station, Lorraine (Maria Bello), a vulnerable single mom, and her 5-year-old son (Connor Hill), are carjacked by Roy (Stephen Dorff), a vicious bank robber on the run who forces her to drive him to meet up with his accomplice.
• 'Conan the Barbarian': (2011) Hey Conan fans: The legendary Barbarian is back -- big time. Spiffy special effects (and lots of blood and guts) makes the Cimmerian warrior come alive on the big screen as he grows from a killer-of-a-boy to a grown-up killer-of-a-warrior who has to save the world from a power hungry warlord who slaughters all in his path -- including Conan's family and village. • 'The Devil's Double': (2011) Dominic Cooper gives a tour-de-force performance as both Uday Hussein, Saddam Hussein's reckless, sadistic party-boy son who has a rabid hunger for sex and brutality; and Latif Yahia, an Iraqi army lieutenant ordered to become the 'fiday' -- or body double -- to the notorious "Black Prince" in 1987. It's kinda like 'Scarface' set in Iraq with Cooper as a Middle-Eastern Tony Montana. It's based on a true story -- and is brutally violent.
• 'The Family Tree': (2011) When a bizarre accident leaves desperate housewife Bunnie with a case of amnesia, her dysfunctional family -- consisting of husband, Jack and twin 17-year-olds Eric and Kelly -- gets an unexpected second chance at happiness in this offbeat comedy. Stars Hope Davis, Dermot Mulroney, Max Thieriot, Brittany Robertson.
• 'Helldriver': (2010) After a meteorite crashes into Japan, releasing a toxic ash that turns inhabitants in the northern half of the country into bloodthirsty zombies, a stunning high school girl armed with an artificial heart-powered chainsaw sword leads a motley crew of desperadoes into the zombie-infected wilds to exterminate the zombie queen. This low-budget flick has more ambition than smarts; after the first foray into zombieland, the killings become an endless loop of bloodshed with no rhyme nor reason nor story line.
• 'Spy Kids: All the Time in the World': (2011) What do you do when a franchise has run its course? Reboot it by bringing in new blood. That's what Robert Rodriguez did with this entry in the once-popular Spy Kid series. But where the previous sequels were giddy with self-referential musings and outlandish villains, this one is downright stupid. Even the presence of Jessica Alba as the spy mom can't enliven the proceedings, which is about an evil villain who is speeding up and destroying all the time in the world.

• 'My Fair Lady': (1964) George Cukor's classic musical version of George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion' starred Audrey Hepburn -- at the peak of her career -- and Rex Harrison, whose turn as Professor Henry Higgins resurrected his sagging career. Though corny by today's standards, the film still holds up, with gorgeous cinematography by Harry Stradling Sr. (who photographed the 1939 film version of 'Pygmalion') and wonderful songs by Lerner and Loewe.
• 'The Rules of the Game': (1939) Considered one of the greatest films ever made, Jean Renoir's classic is a scathing critique of corrupt French society cloaked in a comedy of manners, in which a weekend at a marquis's countryside chateau lays bare some ugly truths about a group of haute bourgeois acquaintances. Still stunning and beautiful -- and pertinent -- after seven decades.
• 'Three Colors: Blue, White, Red': (1993-94) A boldly cinematic trio of stories about love and loss from Krzysztof Kieslowski. The films were named for the colors of the French flag and stand for the tenets of the French Revolution -- ­liberty, equality, and fraternity -- with each film using the title symbol to examine a group of ambiguously interconnected people experiencing tragedy to comedy in their personal lives. 'Red' was Kieslowski's last film -- he died at age 54 during open-heart surgery following a heart attack in 1996.
• 'West Side Story': (1961) Five decades after its historic debut, the iconic musical returns in a 50th anniversary hi-def edition. With a record-breaking 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Directing and Best Original Score, the 1961 film took home more awards than any other movie-musical in the history of cinema. This monumental production not only features the timeless lyrics from master American composer Stephen Sondheim, but a brilliant score from Leonard Bernstein and beautiful direction by Robert Wise and co-director and choreographer Jerome Robbins. • 'The Stool Pigeon': (2010 -- Hong Kong) Director Dante Lam's latest actioner stars Nicholas Tse as an ex-convict street racer nicknamed Ghost who unwillingly works as an informant for police detective Don Lee (Nick Cheung) in order to clear debts left by his late father and to rescue his only sister from prostitution. The film revolves around the two men from opposite sides of the law, and the guilt each has for their past and present actions. There's plenty of fast-paced action and downright nasty violence.

• 'Le beau Serge': (1958) Of the hallowed group of 'Cahiers du cinema' critics-turned-filmmakers who would transform film history with the French New Wave, Claude Chabrol was the first to direct his own feature. His stark and absorbing landmark debut, 'Le beau Serge,' follows a successful yet sickly young man (Jean-Claude Brialy) who returns home to the small village where he grew up. There, he finds himself at odds with his former close friend (Gerard Blain) -- ­now unhappily married and a wretched alcoholic -- ­and the provincial life he represents. • 'Incendies': When their mother dies, twins Jeanne and Simon discover they have a brother they didn't know existed, and are shocked to find that the father they thought was dead is still alive; the pair travel to the Middle East to unravel the mystery.
• 'Meek's Cutoff': Revisionist, minimalist Western tracks a group of settlers in 1845 on the Oregon Trail, who split off (for no given reason) from the main wagon train, hire dubious mountain man Stephen Meek to guide them over the Cascade Mountains, and proceed to get lost in the high plain desert. This is a Western like none you've ever seen: Instead of using the panoramic desert as an exhilarating metaphor for the boundless wide open spaces and endless possibilities for the settlers of the American West, director Kelly Reichardt turns the open spaces into a prison encapsulating all the pain and suffering of an arduous pioneer journey, making the viewer feel and understand the anger and confusion of the lost settlers. The destruction of our film heritage, which is the focus of concern today, is only the tip of the iceberg. American law does not protect our painters, sculptors, recording artists, authors, or filmmakers from having their lifework distorted, and their reputation ruined. If something is not done now to clearly state the moral rights of artists, current and future technologies will alter, mutilate, and destroy for future generations the subtle human truths and highest human feeling that talented individuals within our society have created.

In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be "replaced" by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.

A boring, mish-mash of a film that set back the cause of motion-capture animation.
