<p class="p1">Critics and fans are split down the middle about the new Superman reboot, "<a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/superman-man-of-steel/52239/main"><span class="s1">Man of Steel</span></a>," but one thing's for sure: The final battle between Supes and General Zod wreaks absolute havoc on Metropolis.<br />
<br />
A disaster expert named Charles Watson, of Watson Technical Consulting (WTC), went to impressive lengths to calculate <a href="http://www.buzzfeed.com/jordanzakarin/man-of-steel-destruction-death-analysis" target="_blank"><span class="s1">the damage their battle would have actually caused</span></a>, in terms of human and financial loss. According to BuzzFeed, WTC estimates the total cost of the destruction at $2 trillion, with property damage alone accounting for approximately $700 billion, compared to the $55 billion that resulted from 9/11. Even more staggering is that figure doesn't factor in loss of life or the long-term economic impact.<br />
<br />
<span class="s2">WTC puts the body count at </span>129,000, with over 250,000 missing and nearly a million injured.<br />
<br />
The budget for all this simulated damage? A relatively paltry $225 million. So far, "Man of Steel" has brought in over $201 million worldwide -- and a sequel is already in the works.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<div class="photo-slim">
<p class="cap"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/frozen.jpg" /></p>
</div>

<p class="p1">It's been a hot minute since Disney's given us a heroine to root for, but next year's "Frozen" should do the trick. Not to be confused with the horror movie also called "Frozen," this animated flick is loosely based on the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen.<br />
<br />
Kristen Bell voices Anna, a "fearless optimist" who travels far and wide to find her snowy sister Elsa. Elsa, voiced by actress and singer Idina Menzel, is the Snow Queen, and she's done her icy thing all over the kingdom of Arendelle. (You can see concept art for Arendelle over at the <a href="http://disney.tumblr.com/post/50354978195/new-concept-art-from-walt-disney-animation" target="_blank"><span class="s1">Disney Tumblr</span></a>. Yes, Disney has a Tumblr!)<br />
<br />
This teaser provides a <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/walt-disney-animation-frozen-video/" target="_blank"><span class="s1">sneak peek at Olaf</span></a>, a snowman voiced by Josh Gad ("The Internship," "Ice Age: Continental Drift"), and a good-natured, doglike reindeer named Sven. Sven's the sidekick of Kristoff, a rough and tough mountain dude who comes along on Anna's journey. (To protect her from ferocious creatures like Olaf, obviously.) "Glee"'s Jonathan Groff lends his voice to Kristoff, so we can expect quite a bit of singing.<br />

Jennifer Lee, who co-wrote the script for "Wreck-It Ralph," is sharing directorial duties with Chris Buck. She also worked on the screenplay.<br />
<br />
Disney's success with projects like "The Princess and the Frog" and "Tangled" has made the young female audience an attractive target demographic for its winter offerings. "Frozen," which play in 3D, glides into theaters on November 27, just in time for the holiday season.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<div class="photo-slim">
<p class="cap"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/franco.jpg" /></p>
</div>

<p class="p1">"Veronica Mars" and Zach Braff, <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/03/13/veronica-mars-movie-kickstarter/"><span class="s1">what hast thou wrought?</span></a> Now James Franco wants in on the crowdfunding party, with the actor turning to Indiegogo.com to finance a micro-budget feature.<br />
<br />
The "<a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/end-of-the-world/10085974/main"><span class="s1">This Is the End</span></a>" star <a href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/palo-alto-stories-by-james-franco?browse_v=old_no_dropdown" target="_blank"><span class="s1">wants to raise $500,000</span></a> so the crew of filmmakers he's gathered can adapt his book of short stories, "Palo Alto." The plan is to split the project into a trilogy of feature films ("Memoria," "Killing Animals," and "Yosemite"), with Vladimir Bourdeau, Bruce Thierry Cheung, Nina Ljeti, and Gabriel Demestree behind the camera. Interestingly enough, Franco has already collaborated with some of these people; Cheung was one of many directors of "Tar," in which Franco played poet C.K. Williams, and Ljeti has appeared in several movies that Franco has worked on.<br />
<br />
According to the <a href="http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/palo-alto-stories-by-james-franco?browse_v=old_no_dropdown" target="_blank"><span class="s1">Indiegogo page for this project</span></a>, all profits will go to a charitable organization called Art of Elysium. Franco writes, "Working with <span class="s2">Art of Elysium</span> has given me the opportunity to share my creativity with hospitalized children and give them the gift of creativity." For a mere $450, you can get a personalized voicemail from Franco, plus things like a signed high school yearbook photo of the star. Shelling out $5,000 will get you a "cast credit role," which includes "star treatment" like hair and makeup. And for a $7,000 donation, you can get an original Franco painting. (If you've seen "This Is The End," you've gotten a taste of Franco's artistic prowess.)<br />
<br />
Granted, this is a small project for up-and-coming filmmakers that would be difficult to drum up funding for, but is this worth your cold hard cash? It's not clear if these are people that Franco met in grad school or if they were his students, but either way, it would be hard for these films to get off the ground without his name attached.<br />

<span class="s1">Jennifer Lopez will be <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jennifer-lopez-star-chilean-miner-569221" target="_blank"><span class="s2">heading to Chile this fall to film "The 33,"</span></a> a drama about the <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/10/13/mario-sepulveda-chile-mine-rescue_n_761337.html" target="_blank"><span class="s2">33 miners who were trapped underground for 69 traumatic days</span></a> in 2010, reports The Hollywood Reporter.</span><br />
<br />
Dapper Spanish actor Antonio Banderas will be playing Mario Sepulveda, the second miner to surface; nicknamed Super Mario, he became the face of the miners and the "breakout" media star of the group. Martin Sheen is on board to play a father of one of the miners, and Rodrigo Santoro will play the first miner to be rescued. "The 33" will be <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-post/patricia-riggen-direct-chilean-miner-drama-mike-medavoy-exclusive-55911" target="_blank"><span class="s3">produced by Mike Medavoy</span></a> ("Black Swan," "Shutter Island," "All the King's Men"), who was the first to snag the rights to the miners' story.<br />
<br />
The movie, from a script by Mikko Alanne and Jose Rivera, will depict the struggles of the trapped miners, their worried families, and the people organizing the rescue. The miners contributed to the script, providing new details about their ordeal, including the 17 days they were trapped underground without contact.<br />
<br />
It's been a while since Jennifer Lopez has taken on a dramatic role, though the triple-threat star's performance in "Selena" -- as the titular murdered singer-songwriter -- was arguably what put her on the map.<br />
<br />
"The 33" will be directed by Patricia Riggen, who's known for independent films centered on women, such as her 2007 debut "Under the Same Moon" and "Girl in Progress" (with Eva Mendes).<br />

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">It's clear who's the boss in this scene from <span class="s2"><a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/22/don-jon-trailer-joseph-gordon-levitt/">Joseph Gordon-Levitt's upcoming film "Don Jon."</a></span></span><br />
<br />
Previously known as "Don Jon's Addiction," Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut is a romantic comedy about a guido named Don Jon who's faced with a terrible dilemma: his smokin' hot girlfriend Barbara, played by a New Jersey-accented Scarlett Johansson, or his single dude life, which includes copious amounts of porn and working out. What's a guy to do? In this case, Don Jon (played by JGL himself) brings his lady home for dinner with his parents. Don's a family man, so you know this is serious stuff!<br />
<br />
You can see in this clip -- released on Father's Day -- that the apple didn't fall far from the tree. While it seems Don's mom is pleased to get some extra help in the kitchen, Tony Danza's Jon Sr. is very impressed with his son's girlfriend's assets, and he's not shy about sharing it. If watching Danza and a pumped-up JGL together doesn't get you psyched for this movie, what will?<br />
<br />
NSFW warning: Danza uses some explicit language to describe ScarJo's beauty.<br />

"Don Jon" will hold you closer, tiny dancer, on September 27.<br />

The following teaser gives us a closer look at an early scene in the movie in which Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his wife Karin (Mireille Enos) flee their apartment with their two daughters. There's a helicopter headed their way, but first Gerry and his family have to outrun the ambulatory undead quickly shuffling after them. Although no one says the z-word in the preview, it's clear the creatures in hot pursuit are definitely not normal.<br />
 <iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/eROSnXMafHY" width="560"></iframe><br />
Despite all the behind-the-scenes chatter about <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/01/world-war-z-problems/"><span class="s1">last-minute problems with the film</span></a>, it's been getting solid early reviews from critics in the United States and the UK. Super-fans in select cities can also purchase a <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/world-war-z-mega-ticket-paramount-regal/" target="_blank"><span class="s1">$50 "Mega Ticket"</span></a> that comes with a few extra goodies, including a digital download or stream of "World War Z" once it comes out on DVD and Blu-ray. With this deal available in only five U.S. theaters, it appears Paramount is testing the waters for future "Mega Ticket" offers.<br />
<br />
The hotly anticipated undead invasion begins June 21, when "World War Z" hits theaters.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<div class="photo-slim">

</div>

<p class="p1">If we'd only known that working on Wall Street was this fun, we'd have gotten our MBAs long ago. In the trailer for Martin Scorsese's upcoming crime drama "The Wolf of Wall Street," Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill are in fine form, boozing it up, quite literally throwing money around, and even engaging in a little dwarf-tossing.<br />
<br />
Based on <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Wolf-Wall-Street-Jordan-Belfort/dp/0553384775"><span class="s1">Jordan Belfort's memoir of the same name</span></a>, "The Wolf of Wall Street" <span class="s1">stars DiCaprio as Belfort</span>, a tough-talking Wall Street suit who lives as large as Gatsby. Along with his partner Donnie Azoff, Belfort schemes and scams his way to millions -- enough to buy yachts, insanely cool cars, lots of illicit substances, and the affection of foxy young blondes. Hill flashes some fancy fake teeth and a preppy look for his role as Azoff, a character <a href="http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/wolves_thrive_mocl0sDrvkHNXWuiQ7sQsJ" target="_blank">loosely based on Belfort's real-life buddy Danny Porush</a>. Matthew McConaughey is all sleaze as Belfort's boss and mentor.<br />
<br />
All this money comes at a price, though: The dirty deals and mobster pals get the SEC sniffing around Belfort and company, and soon their high-flying '90s fun comes to a close. (Of course there are mobsters. This is Scorsese we're talking about.)<br />
<br />
The film is slated for a November 15 release. In the meantime, we can look forward to countless GIFs of DiCaprio dancing and biting his fist.</p>

Wow, where to begin with this one? A math teacher in Hautes-de-Seine, France, decided it was time to show his students their first horror movie. But rather than starting them off small with something like, I don't know, "Ghostbusters," <a href="http://www.thelocal.fr/20130611/french-teacher-shows-young-pupils-horror-film-saw">he went straight for the gore with "Saw."</a> You know the one with the two guys chained in a bathroom with a dead body? That one.<br />
<br />
One of the student's fathers told French radio station Europe 1, "He returned from school on Monday evening, visibly in some discomfort, not well. I asked him and he told me his maths teacher had shown them a horror film during class." The teacher was suspended for a day, and the school is investigating the case. In addition, the Federation of Students' Parents Councils told The Local, "We're in the process of seeing what sort of legal measures we might be able to take in this case."<br />
<br />
It's unclear what the movie rating for "Saw" is in France, but the ultra-violent film "Only God Forgives" was <a href="http://twitchfilm.com/2013/06/only-god-forgives-sparks-french-film-ratings-controversy-painless-director-juan-carlos-medina-elabor.html">recently given a -12 rating</a>, meaning that it's unsuitable for children under 12. Other films given an -12 rating include "A History of Violence," "Fargo," and "Django Unchained." "Hostel" has a -16 rating, which means it's only suitable for people over 16. However, chances are good that most parents would be upset if their child was shown most decidedly adult fare, in math class or not.<br />

<p class="cap"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/gi-joe-retaliationoriginal.jpg" /></p>
</div>
You may have already forgotten that a second "G.I. Joe" movie came out just a few months ago, but Paramount hasn't. Almost immediately after "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" hit theaters in March with a booming global box office, <a href="http://variety.com/2013/film/news/paramount-plans-g-i-joe-sequel-1200331203/">a third movie was announced</a>. Not too shabby for a flick that encountered a nine-month delay for reshoots, plot changes, 3D conversion, and the like.<br />
<br />
Now Paramount has announced that they are <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/jon-m-chu-re-enlisting-to-helm-g-i-joe-3/">bringing back director Jon M. Chu</a> for the third installment of the franchise. It's not yet clear who from "Retaliation" will be joining him, although Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a good bet. He <a href="http://marquee.blogs.cnn.com/2013/03/29/the-rock-g-i-joe-was-my-family/">told CNN last March</a> that "Retaliation" was a "massive opportunity." He added, "I enjoy being in franchises because they make a lot of people happy around the world... That's a lot of smiles, and that's a cool thing." (Also, money.)<br />
<br />
At the moment, the third "G.I. Joe" movie doesn't have an official title or a writer attached, so there's no telling what direction this actioner will go in. We can expect to hear more very soon, as one could speculate that "Joe" is on the fast track for next summer.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<div class="photo-slim">
<p class="cap"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/screen-shot-2013-06-12-at-10.22.03-am.png" /></p>
</div>
The first teaser trailer for "Diana" has dropped, giving us our first look at Naomi Watts as the late Princess Diana, the woman commonly referred to as the People's Princess.<br />
<br />
"Diana" takes place long after her <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/july/29/newsid_2494000/2494949.stm">fairy-tale wedding to Prince Charles in 1981</a>, in the years right before her death. The story focuses on the <a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/diana/8874787/Dr-Hasnat-Khan-the-heart-surgeon-who-Princess-Diana-dubbed-Mr-Wonderful.html">secret two-year love affair with Dr. Hasnat Khan</a>, a heart surgeon who is played by Naveen Andrews; it's said that Diana wanted to marry Dr. Khan, but he thought it wouldn't work out for a number of reasons and broke off their relationship. Besides cultural differences, her profile in the media would have made it impossible to carry on a normal relationship. The Princess couldn't go anywhere without the paparazzi hounding her, and some speculate it was the crush of paps following her car that caused the accident that killed her and her then-boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed. (The conspiracy theories about her death are pretty crazy.)<br />
<br />
Director Oliver Hirschbiegel's film is <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/cannes-entertainment-one-announces-itself-as-player-in-u-s-distribution-by-acquiring-naomi-watts-starrer-diana/">positioned for an Oscar run</a>, and given the preparations Watts has described for the role, it looks like it could be a definite contender. According to Vanity Fair, "Watts reportedly spent six weeks working with a dialogue coach, studied Diana's 1995 interview with Martin Bashir, and <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2012/08/09/naomi-watts-diana-wigs-prosthetic-nose/">was fitted with a prosthetic nose and four wigs.</a>"<br />
<br />
Although Watts doesn't speak a word in this teaser, she certainly looks the part. What do you think?<br />

<p class="cap"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/dumb-and-dumber.jpg" /></p>

"Dumber and Dumber To" might be dead in the water. <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/will-red-granite-save-dumb-and-dumber-to-with-jim-carrey-jeff-daniels-farrellys/">Warner Bros. finally canned</a> the sort-of sequel, which would see the return of stars Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey as dangerously dumb friends on a road trip. Although another studio could pick up the project, it's been almost 20 years since the first film. Therefore, are audiences still interested in this?<br />
<br />
While the Farrelly Brothers weren't involved with the underwhelming prequel, "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd," they haven't helmed a hit in years. Peter Farrelly's labor of love, "Movie 43," was ignored by most of the stars and directors involved, as well as audiences. Daniels is busy making HBO gold on "The Newsroom" and has focused his career on smaller dramas and comedies in the years since "Dumb and Dumber." Jim Carrey is trying to resurrect his career with "Kick-Ass 2," and is attached to a <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/owen-wilson-joins-jim-carrey-in-jared-hess-helmed-relativity-heist-comedy">bank heist comedy</a> currently known as "Loomis Fargo." Carrey would do well to stick with "Loomis Fargo," it seems, even though director Jared Hess hasn't really found his footing since the success of "Napoleon Dynamite."<br />
<br />
Then again, a franchise is a franchise. Deadline reports, "There are about five distributors ready to take domestic. Keep an eye on Universal!"<br />
<br />
Would you be psyched for another installation of "Dumb"-ness, or is this style of physical comedy past its prime?<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/superman-man-of-steel/52239/main">"Man of Steel"</a> hasn't even opened in U.S. theaters yet, but <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/06/man-of-steel-sequel-underway-with-zack-snyder-and-david-s-goyer/">its sequel is already in the works</a>. Director Zack Snyder and writer David S. Goyer will be returning for the further adventures of Supes, and it seems that Henry Cavill is more than happy to keep wearing those blue tights.<br />
<br />
Cavill <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/10/henry-cavill-man-of-steel_n_3403406.html">told the Huffington Post</a>, "How Hollywood works with these kind of things is that when you are doing a screen test, you will sign a contract saying, 'OK, yes, I'll do the movie if you guys want me... And, in that, it's standard procedure to do two options beyond the movie."<br />
<br />
This would be a dream come true for almost any actor, but especially one who was convinced he would lose out on the Superman role once again (Cavill was originally picked to play the Man of Steel in an earlier Superman incarnation that never got off the ground).<br />
<br />
It seems like a no-brainer to give the greenlight to a sequel, given the word of mouth around "Man of Steel" and the reviews that have just started popping up around the Internet. The embargo broke last night, and "Man of Steel" is already <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/superman_man_of_steel/">at 71 percent on Rotten Tomatoes</a>. Since <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/17/marvel-phase-3-doctor-strange-iron-man-4/">Marvel has already mapped out the next few years</a> of its blockbuster plans, DC is eager to catch up. It also doesn't hurt that Warner Bros. <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/06/05/man-of-steel-product-placement/">wrangled $160 million in product placement</a> for "Man of Steel," slapping Superman's face on everything from Gillette (how does he shave that manly cleft?) to the Army.<br />
<br />
We're wondering if the Justice League will be involved in the sequel, or if that will be coming down the pipeline later. Also up in the air is whether or not Christopher Nolan will be as involved this time around. Between his planned projects, like "Interstellar," and the <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/17/christopher-nolan-directing-james-bond/">rumors about what Nolan might take on next</a>, his dance card looks pretty full.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/man-of-steeloriginal.jpg" vspace="4" />"Man of Steel" hasn't even hit theaters, but it can already <a href="http://adage.com/article/news/superman-reboot-man-steel-snares-160m-promotions/241822/">count on $160 million from product placement alone</a>. Advertising Age took a closer look at the deals struck between Warner Bros. and a slew of companies around the world and found a staggering amount of tie-ins. Some seem clever enough, like hip eyeglasses company Warber Parker offering frames in the style of Clark Kent, but others are the kind of thing that seem totally foreign to most people, like special edition cars from Chrysler U.K.<br />
<br />
Of course, <a href="http://www.businessinsider.com/15-worst-movie-product-placements-2013-5?op=1">product placement</a> is nothing new; the first film to reportedly feature product placement was 1927's "Wings." This year's "The Great Gatbsy" had plenty of tie-ins, though those were more to signify to modern audiences just how lush a life Fitzgerald's characters were living. After all, the average movie-goer doesn't down bottles of the cheapest champagne on a regular basis, much less Mo&euml;t &amp; Chandon.<br />
<br />
"<a href="http://www.motherjones.com/blue-marble/2012/02/lorax-blowing-smogulous-smoke">The Lorax" probably took the most heat</a> for its many, many promotional tie-ins in 2012, but mostly because they went against the story's original eco-friendly message. (The movie had 70 promotional partners, while "Man of Steel" has 100 around the world.) Meanwhile, <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2012/03/toldja-universal-rounds-up-promotional-partners-for-battleship/">"Battleship" snagged</a> $50M from partners around the world. That makes the sometimes garishly obvious <a href="http://thefilmstage.com/news/bond-23-to-set-record-for-product-placement-in-a-film">placement in "Skyfall"</a> a little easier to swallow.<br />
<br />
These deals aren't going anywhere any time soon, so you might as well sit back and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/gillette?x=us-en_manofsteel">learn how Superman shaves</a> (sponsored by Gillette, of course).<br />

<br />
What's a crime thriller without angry crocodiles? (Actually, is there another kind of crocodile?) Yesterday, the very first snippets of footage from Justin Timberlake and Ben Affleck's new movie, <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/runner-runner/10086290/main">"Runner, Runner"</a> appeared on Entertainment Tonight, and it looks pretty cool.<br />
<br />
For the film, Timberlake took off his suit and tie to play a Princeton student named Richie with a knack for online gambling. But when he bets the house -- in this case, his tuition -- he loses big. Suspecting someone ripped him off, he decides it would be a great idea to bring his grievances directly to the source: Ivan Block, a shady businessman played by Ben Affleck, who runs the business on an island far from the long arm of the law.<br />
<br />
"Ocean's Thirteen" scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien wrote the script for "Runner, Runner," and Brad Furman of "The Lincoln Lawyer" directed the film, which was shot on location in Puerto Rico.<br />
<br />
"Runner, Runner" will scramble into theaters on September 27.<br />

<title><![CDATA['The Family' Trailer: Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer Are Mobsters on the Run]]></title>

In between bouts of being "Taken," Luc Besson found the time to write and direct mob comedy "The Family." Here, Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer play a married couple in the witness protection program who, along with their children, can't seem to stay away from crime and mayhem. Their put-upon CIA agent, played by Tommy Lee Jones, has to uproot and replant the Manzonis every 90 days, given the shenanigans they get up to wherever they go.<br />
<br />
Finally, the family ends up in France, under the name Blake. Of course, that doesn't stop Maggie (Pfeiffer) and Fred (De Niro) from getting into trouble; Fred beats the crap out of their plumber, and Maggie blows up the supermarket when the employees there are rude to her. The apples don't fall far from the tree, either. Their daughter (Dianna Agron) is quite handy with a tennis racquet, but she'll make do with whatever's near if someone needs a beating. Meanwhile, their son (John D'Leo) is hustling the other students for cash.<br />
<br />
"We're not in Brooklyn anymore," grumbles Fred. Of course, it looks like Brooklyn is coming to them.<br />
<br />
De Niro and Pfeiffer made their names with mob movies like "The Godfather," "Casino," "Scarface," and "Married to the Mob," so this is familiar territory. Eagle-eyed viewers might see a callback or two in this trailer to their earlier films.<br />
<br />
"The Family" will be coming to you on September 20.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img border="1" hspace="4"  src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/kristen-stewartoriginal.jpg" vspace="4" /><br />
Kristen Stewart was arguably the first "Twilight" star to really try and buck her onscreen image, and now that the series is over, she's still mixing it up.<br />
 <br />
Stewart <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/kristen-stewart-books-two-indie-562711">has two films set to shoot this summer</a>, "Camp X-Ray" and "Sils Maria." In the former, she's going to star as a soldier assigned to GITMO, where an "unlikely bond" forms between her and one of the detainees. The title refers to one of the more controversial facilities at Guantanamo Bay.<br />
 <br />
"Sils Maria" is definitely arthouse fare. <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/04/ifc-acquiring-olivier-assayas-pic-sils-maria-juliette-binoche-mia-wasikowska-to-star/#more-480554">Olivier Assayas wrote the script</a> and will direct Juliette Binoche as Maria Enders, a legendary actress who stars in a play opposite a younger, troubled star played by Chloe Moretz. Moretz's character is taking on the role that the aging actress once played. Stewart is replacing Mia Wasikowska as Enders's assistant.<br />
 <br />
Although Stewart scored one post-"Twilight" blockbuster with "Snow White and the Huntsman," she's mostly been focusing on indies. Even between "Twilight" sequels, she had roles in smaller, more daring films like "Adventureland," "Welcome to the Rileys," and "The Runaways." Of course, her performance as Marylou in last year's "On the Road" was a big draw for fans that wanted to see the young actress shake it up.<br />
 <br />
Both films are set to begin production this summer.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/bryan-singeroriginal.jpg" vspace="4" />Bryan Singer is one clever guy. Aside from his directing skills, he's quite the social media maestro.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://twitter.com/BryanSinger">His Twitter feed</a> is a one-man promotion machine for <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/x-men-first-class-2/10083786/main">"X-Men: Days of Future Past,"</a> where he posts photos from the set before anyone can leak them. Now, his two latest photos hint at what's in store for our mutants.<br />
<br />
The first is of the Oval Office, which reveals President Nixon and a bevy of government types in a "Pivotal Meeting." The second is an outdoor shot from a set in Vietnam, which lends itself to all sorts of juicy possibilities.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/news.moviefone.com/media/2013/06/channing-tatumoriginal-1.jpg" vspace="4" />"White House Down" star Channing Tatum is, deep down, still the same guy who used to eat one meal a day at Checkers. He worked long and hard to get his big break, and now that he's hit the big time, he tries hard to remember not to get used to the weirdly infantile treatment big stars receive.<br />
<br />
In the July cover <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2013/06/channing-tatum-fatherhood-daughter-learning-disabilities">story for "Vanity Fair,"</a> Tatum explained, "I don't remember who said it, but I do believe that whatever age you become famous, you end up staying that age. Because from that point you're not asked to be a normal citizen," he said. "We're not asked to do things ourselves. You have someone there with a coffee. 'You want food? I'll get you food.' I put my bag in the trunk yesterday-I can't drive here-so my driver, great guy, Terry, amazing, I call him T-Bone, I drop my bag in and left the trunk open. And I get around to my door, and I'm like, 'What the f*** am I doing? That's not my behavior.'" Tatum also adds that for people who hit it big at a young age, like Justin Bieber, it's harder to stay grounded. "It's so hard for someone to be responsible when they're not asked to be." (We're thinking the gold chains and leather shirt indicate that the Biebs could take a few lessons in humility from Tatum.)<br />
<br />
Tatum also discussed growing up with a learning disorder and fatherhood. Appropriately enough, his character in "White House Down" is a policeman at the Capitol who's tasked with saving not just his daughter but the president himself (played by Jamie Foxx) from bad guys.<br />
<br />
If you'd like to watch Tatum eat soup with a puppy, ride a horse, and snuggle a baby pig, you'd best <a href="http://www.vanityfair.com/video/2013/06/channing-tatum-on-set--playing-with-puppies-and-farm-animals_2431260624001#/page=1&amp;plid=2068888465001">watch the black and white short film</a> by Bruce Weber that accompanies this story.<br />

  Children of the '80s and bronies alike, rejoice! A "My Little Pony" feature film is headed our way this June.<br />
<br />
In "My Little Pony Equestria Girls," some jerk steals <a href="http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Twilight_Sparkle" target="_hplink">Twilight Sparkle's</a> crown. In her hunt for her missing headgear, Twilight Sparkle ends up in another world where she's just a human girl in high school. Boo! (In case you didn't know, Twilight Sparkle is an awesome unicorn pony and the lead in the animated series "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic." She turned into a princess in the third season finale. Twilight Sparkle is a very busy Little Pony.)\r\n\r\nThis other world of Equestria is an extension of the Hasbro brand, described by the New York Times as "a parallel world in which the My Little Pony characters were reconceived as teenage girls in high school." It seems that this movie is an introduction to a world of My Little Ponies that are targeted towards an audience that's slightly older -- or, you know, the guys who think Twilight Sparkle and her crew are hot tamales. \r\n\r\nIn a neat twist, Hasbro is actually making a movie to introduce its new products instead of making a movie with the potential for lots of tie-ins.<br />
<br />
"My Little Pony Equestria Girls" will have its sparkly pink premiere this June at the Los Angeles Film Festival's "Family Day." It will open in theaters the next day, and head to DVD and Blu-ray later this summer.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-henry-cavill-the-man-from-uncle-large570.jpg" />The beleaguered adaptation of "Man From U.N.C.L.E." took another hit last week when <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/24/tom-cruise-exits-the-man-from-uncle_n_3332916.html" target="_hplink">Tom Cruise left the project</a>, but it's possible things are looking up for the Guy Ritchie caper. (Cruise bowed out because of scheduling problems with "Mission: Impossible 5.") The latest buzz out of Hollywood is that <a href="http://variety.com/2013/film/news/man-of-steel-star-henry-cavill-eyes-lead-in-wbs-man-from-u-n-c-l-e-1200488719/" target="_hplink">Henry Cavill is in talks to take over the role</a> of Napoleon Solo, one of the spies from United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.<br />
<br />
This is a particularly interesting development for two reasons. One, Warner Bros. is the studio behind both "Man From U.N.C.L.E." and Cavill's "Man of Steel." The latter, which opens in June, will indicate whether or not Cavill is blockbuster material. Back when Steven Soderbergh was attached to direct, the names bandied about for the lead role were as high profile as George Clooney and Michael Fassbender. If Cavill is cast as Solo, it indicates that WB has confidence in its new Superman and the success of "Man of Steel." Two, as Variety points out, Cavill was aiming for the role of Soviet agent Illya Kuryakin, which went to Armie Hammer. The female lead is still up in the air, but Alicia Vikander from "A Royal Affair" and "Anna Karenina" is currently the top contender.<br />
<br />
Will "U.N.C.L.E." finally get off the ground? Is Warner Bros. going to wait until box office results from "Man of Steel" come in? Sit back and relax, because if the movie's history is any indication, we might be waiting a while to find out.<br />

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-scarlett-johansson-hillary-clinton-large570.jpg" />The casting rumblings for <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/13/hillary-clinton-movie-plot_n_3268672.html" target="_hplink">Hillary Rodham Clinton's biopic</a> have already begun. So far, it looks like the team behind "Rodham" is aiming high for its leading lady, with a list full of award-winners and stunners like Amanda Seyfried, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, and Jessica Chastain reportedly "interested" in the starring role.<br />
<br />
Director James Ponsoldt <a href="http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/reese-witherspoon-scarlett-johansson-and-jessica-chastain-among-the-frontrunners-to-play-hillary-clinton-in-rodham-8632651.html" target="_hplink">told The Independent</a>, "They're all wonderful actresses. We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position."<br />
<br />
It was only a month ago that The Daily Beast <a href="http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/05/13/some-of-the-juiciest-bits-of-rodham-the-hillary-clinton-movie-biopic-sex-scandal-more.html" target="_hplink">snagged a copy of the script for "Rodham,"</a> news that was quickly followed by an announcement that Ponsoldt ("The Spectacular Now," "Smashed") signed on to direct. It sounds like the team behind "Rodham" is raring to go, but without names being attached to this project, it will be difficult to snag cash from investors. How far along this casting process really is is anybody's guess, but attaching high-profile names is a surefire way to get the Hollywood sharks circling.<br />
<br />
It will be interesting to see how the shooting script differs from the one leaked to The Daily Beast, especially given the steamy sex scene and the less-than-flattering description of Clinton. Things get even even more interesting given the film and TV credits of the two main producers, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen. Between them, they've worked on "The Twilight Saga," "Revenge," "Safe Haven," and "Dear John."<br />
<br />
With an eye towards a November 2016 release -- right around the election -- it's clear that the people behind "Rodham" want to be taken seriously. We'll just have to wait and see.<br />

<title><![CDATA[Ellen Page on 'The East,' Modern Tragedies, and What She Loves Most About Her Job]]></title>

<comments><![CDATA[http://news.moviefone.com/2013/05/28/ellen-page-the-east-interview/#comments]]></comments>
<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-ellen-page-large570.jpg" />Ellen Page has never been one to play it safe, whether that means taking on the role of a murderous teen ("Hard Candy"), a super mutant ("X-Men: The Last Stand"), or a dream architect ("Inception"). Her latest film, <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-east/60311/main" target="_hplink">"The East,"</a> is a drama about eco-anarchists and an undercover investigator (Brit Marling) who grows increasingly attached to them. Izzy (Page) and the other members of The East live off the grid in a crumbling mansion in the woods; they gather their food from dumpsters (a practice known as freeganism), bathe in a nearby lake, and play Spin the Bottle by candlelight for fun.<br />
<br />
If anyone is the leader of The East, it's Benji (Alexander Skarsgard), although Izzy is a close second. She's suspicious and a little abrasive, and like the rest of the group's members, she's got her own specific agenda.<br />
<br />
We sat down with Page to talk about the film, what she loves about acting, and why technology may be making everyone lonely.<br />
<br />
<strong>Moviefone: What about this crew, this team, this script, all of it, made you jump in and say, "Okay, I'm gonna do these very vulnerable things on screen?"</strong><br />
<br />
I'd seen "Sound of My Voice," I'd seen "Another Earth," I was blown away by Zal [Batmanglij's] work and just completely astonished at Brit's two performances in those movies. And then when you meet them, you feel their energy and their creative intent and their purpose for telling stories -- their passion is very palpable and it's very infectious, and I just absolutely wanted to be a part of their work.<br />
<br />
The idea of going in and getting to be vulnerable is one of the reasons why I love my job. I mean, maybe the biggest reason. We live in a society that encourages us to not really feel that much emotion and doesn't really praise vulnerability as much as it should. I think being vulnerable is actually a very courageous thing, and to have a job that lets you just completely let go in this way and go to emotional parts of yourself that otherwise you don't really get to see, I love.<br />
<br />
<strong>There's a really amazing exchange between Benji and Sarah where she says, "You don't think I'm hard enough, you don't think I'm tough enough," and he says, "No, I don't think you're soft enough." And for me, that really speaks volumes about this film because of course they're doing very daring things, but then at night, they're playing Spin the Bottle.</strong><br />
<br />
Yeah, which is, I think, what we should be as humans! I mean, I think one of the modern tragedies that's <em>so</em> unspoken is loneliness. I think people are lonely and isolated and so disconnected from one another... I've had an experience living in an intentional community, and the sense of community and the bonding is really, really beautiful. And I think that in the film and that being explored and exposed is something we don't get to see very much.<br />
<br />
<strong>Can you speak a bit about living in an intentional community?</strong><br />
<br />
Sure, yeah. When I was 22, I'd just shot "Whip It," and I decided to go study permaculture design and eco-village development at a place called Lost Valley in Oregon, and it was... an experience like that is incredible. It was one of the most profound experiences of my life, which obviously really helped with this [movie] because I met young freegans and anarchists and other people there who were there to take this course. But it creates such a paradigm shift of thought, it actually can be really overwhelming to leave and come back after you've just had such a massive shift in seeing the world and how things work and the insanity of how we do a lot of things.<br />
<br />
<strong>Especially being in a hotel like this and then you go out in the streets of, say, New York, and you see people who are better off. But then there's this whole other side to it.</strong><br />
<br />
And a lot of people who aren't, you know? Like, I met a girl at Lost Valley who was 15, dropped out of school because she didn't like what it was teaching her and how it was serving her, [a] complete and utter freegan. Like, one day we were in Eugene and going into some sort of organic store, and I was going to get a drink, and I was like, can I get you something? Do you want a drink or something? I felt like an a**hole because she would refuse and went back into the dumpster. I think it is really easy to judge people, and I get judging those who maybe came from money, but a lot of people, it's not like they're still hanging onto that. It's a complete rejection of it.<br />
<br />
<strong>Similar to Izzy.</strong><br />
<br />
Very similar to Izzy.<br />
<br />
<strong>But I mean, there are also a lot of people who leave because of whatever complicated family situations, I understand that. That's the dichotomy, is passing people on the street and being like, oh, whatever, and not knowing their story. Do you think technology has a part in how disconnected we feel?</strong><br />
<br />
Yeah, or it creates an illusion of connection that's not really connection. I mean, who can really know? I feel like whenever there's advancement, there's criticism about the next advancement. Maybe when the telephone was invented, people were like, <em>Oh, no!</em> Who knows? There's probably always [that]. But I do feel like it's becoming an interesting time when everywhere you go, someone is looking at their phone. I think there's profound isolation right now. I feel it. I feel a lot of isolation and loneliness, so maybe it's my projection when I said earlier, you know, a modern unspoken tragedy is loneliness that people feel. And I think that disconnect -- and the disconnect from nature that we've had, too -- has been really profound and seems sometimes very purposeful. So many things have become so Orwellian in this way that not only is there, like, Big Brother, but we love Big Brother <em>[laughs]</em>! People love Facebook and love Twitter, and I'm on Twitter, you know? It's gonna be interesting to see how it continues because it is all so frigging new.<br />
<br />
<em>"The East" opens on May 31.</em> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-josh-hutcherson-large570.jpg" />Josh Hutcherson has a long road ahead of him in "The Hunger Games," but he's staying plenty busy in between trips back to Panem. The latest project he's tossed on his to-do pile is a thriller called "Ape," which <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-post/hunger-games-star-josh-hutcherson-star-and-produce-ape-93146" target="_hplink">he'll both star in and produce</a>. It's described as "a dramatic tale of a young man's struggle with mental illness, love, and a deep-rooted family secret."<br/><br/>It will be interesting to see if Hutcherson's rising star can bring attention to a small indie film like this. The script is from newcomer Jon Johnstone, and it will be directed by Miguel Sapochnik, whose most high-profile movie has been "Repo Men" with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.<br/><br/>Although Hutcherson has been acting steadily for the past decade or so, he really made people sit up and notice him in 2010's "The Kids Are All Right." He'd done drama before, but not for anything that snagged as much attention as that Oscar season favorite. "The Hungers Games" has been his breakout role, and he's got three more of those coming down the pipeline. (Lionsgate announced last summer that the last book in the trilogy, "Mockingjay," will be <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2012/07/10/the-hunger-games-mockingjay-release-date_n_1663270.html" target="_hplink">split into two parts</a>, to be released in 2014 and 2015.)<br/><br/>Hutcherson's current project is "Paradise Lost," a drama that stars Benicio Del Toro. Hutcherson plays a surfer named Nick who falls for the kingpin's niece. Brady Corbet from "Simon Killer" is on board as Nick's brother.<br/><br/>There's currently no start date for "Ape," but we'll keep you posted on all of Peeta's moves.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-post/hunger-games-star-josh-hutcherson-star-and-produce-ape-93146" target="_hplink">The Wrap</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-man-of-steel-trailer-large570.jpg" />The new trailer for "Man of Steel" is all about the action, as General Zod (Michael Shannon) is back to remind us that we're not alone. We're sheltering one of his citizens -- the smokin' new Superman, played by Henry Cavill -- and if we don't fess up, Zod will zap us all. <br/><br/>In the new footage, the skies are full of alien ships sent by Zod, the music is dramatic and threatening, things are exploding and crashing into buildings, and then there's the pretty lady telling Supes (Henry Cavill) that he's doomed. "You will not win. For every human you save, we will kill a million more."<br/><br/>This is the Zack Snyder we know from "300" and "Watchmen," with guitar riffs and piles of skulls and people punching each other in the sky.<br/><br/>Will this trailer and its summer blockbuster vibe win over skeptics, or are we still doubting the power of that red cape and those blue tights?<br/><br/>We'll kneel before Zod on June 12. <script type="text/javascript"> var src_url="https://spshared.5min.com/Scripts/PlayerSeed.js?playList=517789605&amp;height=411&amp;width=570&amp;sid=577&amp;origin=undefined&amp;relatedMode=2&amp;relatedBottomHeight=60&amp;companionPos=&amp;hasCompanion=false&amp;autoStart=false&amp;colorPallet=%23FFEB00&amp;videoControlDisplayColor=%23191919&amp;shuffle=0&amp;isAP=1"; src_url += "&amp;onVideoDataLoaded=HPTrack.Vid.DL&amp;onTimeUpdate=HPTrack.Vid.TC"; if (typeof(commercial_video) == "object") { src_url += "&amp;siteSection="+commercial_video.site_and_category; if (commercial_video.package) { src_url += "&amp;sponsorship="+commercial_video.package; } } document.write('<scr' + 'ipt type="text/javascript" src="'+src_url+'"></scr' + 'ipt>');</script> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-only-god-forgives-large570.jpg" />Everyone has been chomping at the bit to see Ryan Gosling in "Only God Forgives," the new movie from "Drive" writer/director Nicolas Winding Refn. Their awesome/weird arthouse bromance has been extensively documented; Refn <a href="http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/16/cannes-film-festival-nicolas-winding-refn-on-being-one-with-ryan-gosling/" target="_hplink">recently told the New York <em>Times</em></a>, "Ryan and I become one person when we work. Directing can be very intimate." Whether or not that closeness has resulted in a good movie or not is up for debate. The journalists at Cannes seem to think not.<br/><br/>Now, Cannes audiences boo a lot of movies. It's a hobby. They boo so many things that BAMcinematek in Brooklyn <a href="http://www.bam.org/film/2013/booed-at-cannes" target="_hplink">recently showed a film series</a> dedicated to the films booed at Cannes, which include "Wild at Heart," "Taxi Driver," and "Crash." After the screening of "Only God Forgives," some came in for the kill.<br/><br/>Sasha Stone of AwardsDaily <a href="http://www.awardsdaily.com/blog/cannes-review-mack-the-knife-only-god-forgives/" target="_hplink">called it</a> "the careful work of a serial killer -- not literally out there killing women but indulging in one bloody killing after another, practically licking the knife afterwards."<br/><br/>Peter Debruge at Variety <a href="http://variety.com/2013/film/reviews/cannes-film-review-only-god-forgives-1200486200/" target="_hplink">wrote</a>, "As hyper-aggressive revenge fantasies go, it's curious to see one so devoid of feeling, a veniality even 'Drive' fans likely won't be inclined to forgive."<br/><br/>HitFix's Oscar expert Guy Lodge <a href="http://www.hitfix.com/in-contention/cannes-review-only-god-forgives-a-sleek-virtually-non-narrative-blood-ballet" target="_hplink">gave it a mixed review</a>: " Even amid my appreciation for its woozy, sculpted grossness, however, I can't help wishing 'Only God Forgives' was doing a little more, and I mean purely on the level of nuts-and-bolts storytelling, not grander emotional or thematic resonance."<br/><br/>Jeff Wells, never one for understatement, <a href="http://www.hollywood-elsewhere.com/2013/05/stink-in-the-morning-air/" target="_hplink">lambasted the movie</a>, calling it "malignant, odious crap," later adding, "It's rare to find a movie as dedicated as this one to making absolutely no sense" and "I was repelled by this film in ways I didn't know I could be repelled before I saw it."<br/><br/>While the actual amount of booing was under some debate from those in attendance -- Alex Billington of FirstShowing <a href="https://twitter.com/firstshowing/status/337118580711776257" target="_hplink">said there was</a> "Slight applause, some booing, slight whistling" -- it's clear that this film is going to be heavily debated when it hits theaters this summer. For now, US audiences will have to wait until July 19 to see for themselves if Refn and Gosling's arthouse bromance needs forgiveness.<br/><br/>[h/t <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/22/only-god-forgives-reviews_n_3318705.html" target="_hplink">HuffPost Ent</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-the-lone-ranger-trailer-large570.jpg" />The newest trailer for "The Lone Ranger" gives us a better feeling for Johnny Depp's Tonto and the genesis of his relationship with Armie Hammer's Lone Ranger. Tonto's got better dialogue in this clip, whereas in previous trailers, he was talking to the Lone Ranger's horse and making deadpan jokes. It may or may not calm down the folks poking fun at Depp's serious take on the Native American sidekick.<br/><br/>Although there is quite a bit that we already saw <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/04/17/the-lone-ranger-trailer-johnny-depp-tonto_n_3103861.html" target="_hplink">in the trailer released in April</a>, it's not unpleasant to revisit Hammer's handsome visage, especially since most of us last saw it under a thick layer of latex in "J. Edgar." (He played the dreamy prince in "Mirror Mirror" after that, which is worth a look!) Of course, the trailer includes the iconic image of the Lone Ranger's white horse rearing up with a neigh, a train hold-up, explosions, and amazing feats of horse agility.<br/><br/>And then there's Helena Bonham Carter with her fabulously tattooed fake leg, which shoots bullets from its boot heel.<br/><br/>Will director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer be able to recreate their success with the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise with help from the Lone Ranger and Tonto? We'll see for ourselves when the movie opens July 3.<br/><br/><br/><br/>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-benedict-cumberbatch-star-trek-large570.jpg" />J.J. Abrams has taken the task of protecting audiences from spoilers where no man (or woman!) has gone before.<br/><br/>Journalists were invited to a sneak peek of "Star Trek Into Darkness" footage last December. As Slashfilm's Germain Lussier explains, Abrams introduced the footage and <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/j-j-abrams-created-an-alternate-scene-to-preserve-the-secret-of-star-trek-into-darkness/ " target="_hplink">asked everyone to keep the details on the down-low</a>. Now that "STID" is in theaters, the lengths Abrams et al went to keep some key details super secret -- even to journalists -- have become clear.<br/><br/>While there was plenty of speculation about the true identity of Benedict Cumberbatch, he was merely introduced as John Harrison in the footage, both in dialogue and visually. According to Lussier, who saw the footage, certain details "were 100 percent different from the sequence when it screened in December, again at CinemaCon in April and possibly other places."<br/><br/>"STID" co-writer and producer Damon Lindelof had more to say about the switcheroo.<br/><br/>"[Producer] Bryan Burk was the one who first proposed that we use the space jump sequence as a way of getting folks excited for the movie... The challenge was obvious [because] this is AFTER the reveal. Therefore, J.J. and post production supervisor Ben Rosenblatt executed a 'Harrison Cut' to preserve the secret. I'd rather not get into the details of how this was accomplished, suffice to say it wasn't easy. It was, however, worth it."<br/><br/>Of course, those of us who saw the movie know his real identity -- and mum's the word.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/j-j-abrams-created-an-alternate-scene-to-preserve-the-secret-of-star-trek-into-darkness/ " target="_hplink">SlashFilm</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-zach-galifianakis-large570.jpg" />Not everyone gets to have a glamorous red carpet experience in their lives, but being friends with Zach Galifianakis helps. Seems like being friends with the "Hangover" star helps in general, too. The mensch-y comic, who reprises his role as the weird friend Alan in "The Hangover III," brought an old friend he met almost 20 years ago in a Los Angeles laundromat as his date.<br/><br/>Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist, 87, met Galifianakis when she was working for tips at their local laundromat. According to the NY Daily News, he stopped going to Fox Laundry after "The Hangover" - Haist quipped, "Maybe he has his own washer and dryer now."<br/><br/>Two years ago, Galifianakis found out Haist was homeless and took action. He got her a one-bedroom apartment, and also pays her rent and all utilities. Apparently, even Renee Zellweger has gotten involved. (Who knew the two actors were even friends?) She bought furniture for Haist and reportedly buys her groceries. <br/><br/>This isn't the first time on the red carpet for Haist. She also went as Galifianakis' date to "The Hangover II" and "The Campaign." As she told the <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/zach-galifianakis-friend-saved-homelessness-premiere-article-1.1348555#ixzz2TrFTRA00" target="_hplink">Daily News</a>, "If he's in town, he takes me. Otherwise he lets me take a friend. I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterwards."<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/05/21/zach-galifianakis-date-to-hangover-3-premiere-woman-he-saved-from-homelessness/" target="_hplink">Time</a> h/t <a href="http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/zach-galifianakis-friend-saved-homelessness-premiere-article-1.1348555#ixzz2TrFTRA00" target="_hplink">Daily News</a>]<br/><br/><HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--298639--HH> <div class="gallery-module movie-module">

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-the-wolverine-trailer-large570.jpg" />It all starts with a nightmare.<br/><br/>In this brand-new trailer for <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-wolverine/10012859/main" target="_hplink">"The Wolverine,"</a> Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) is alive and well... Or is she? Our bearded buddy Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) wakes up in a cold sweat, the memories of his misdeeds fresh in his mind.<br/><br/>Jackman's sporting a giant Jean Valjean-style vibe as he tries to outrun his past. "It's not who I am anymore," Wolverine growls. Unfortunately for him, a fearless ronin Yukio (Rila Fukushima) is hot on his trail. In a dazzling feat of swords-womanship, she busts into the dank bar where Logan is drowning his sorrows.<br/><br/>The past is coming back for Logan-<em>slash</em>-Wolverine in a real way. Will he choose to become mortal? Is it worth giving up his adamantium claws and mutant skills, or is this the best way for him to make amends for his past actions -- and his part in the death of his beloved Jean Grey?<br/><br/>Unfortunately, there's a hitch. Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova) is just waiting for him to turn in his X-Men ID card.<br/><br/>This trailer shows off more of Viper than previous teasers, as well as a juicier chunk of the action. And, of course, Wolverine in his cigar-chomping glory.<br/><br/>"The Wolverine" opens July 26, 2013. <script type="text/javascript"> var src_url="https://spshared.5min.com/Scripts/PlayerSeed.js?playList=517789666&amp;height=411&amp;width=570&amp;sid=577&amp;origin=undefined&amp;relatedMode=2&amp;relatedBottomHeight=60&amp;companionPos=&amp;hasCompanion=false&amp;autoStart=false&amp;colorPallet=%23FFEB00&amp;videoControlDisplayColor=%23191919&amp;shuffle=0&amp;isAP=1"; src_url += "&amp;onVideoDataLoaded=HPTrack.Vid.DL&amp;onTimeUpdate=HPTrack.Vid.TC"; if (typeof(commercial_video) == "object") { src_url += "&amp;siteSection="+commercial_video.site_and_category; if (commercial_video.package) { src_url += "&amp;sponsorship="+commercial_video.package; } } document.write('<scr' + 'ipt type="text/javascript" src="'+src_url+'"></scr' + 'ipt>');</script> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-hangover-3-red-band-trailer-large570.jpg" />Cue the Boyz II Men, 'cause our days with the Wolf Pack are almost over. <br/><br/>First, let's remember the good times with Phil, Stu, Alan, Doug, and all the other miscreants they ran into. This video, narrated by Zach Galifianakis, is like a balm to soothe our wounds. Remember that time with the tiger? How about the smoking monkey? What about when Mr. Chow jumped out of the car trunk naked? Inappropriate baby jokes! Mike Tyson being himself!<br/><br/>Of course, "The Hangover Part III" ups the ante even more -- angry chickens, an exotic animal (this time a giraffe), Tijuana, probably some dead bodies, and lots of jokes about wieners. What more could you ask for? <br/><br/>Put on your headphones if you're at work -- or turn the computer speakers down real low if your mom is home -- and enjoy.<br/><br/>"Hangover 3" hits theaters May 23. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jrMkEt2EviY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-man-of-steel-large570.jpg" />Even superheroes need a makeover sometimes. It's happened before, with Batman and Iron Man and plenty of other comic book characters; even Superman isn't immune. For the upcoming "Man of Steel," director Zack Snyder and co-writers David S. Goyer and Christopher Nolan made sure to distance their movie from previous installments by not putting "Superman" in the title, and giving the movie some technological tweaks and a grittier vibe. <br/><br/>Goyer <a href="http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=37538&amp;q5679076=1" target="_hplink">explained by in an Empire podcast</a> a few weeks ago. "We always knew we would be using the Superman glyph or the shield as we call it. But 'Man Of Steel' was also supposed to represent our take, which was he's a man, but he's not made of flesh and blood, metaphorically he's a man of steel. So that was sort of the whole thing wrapped up in a nutshell."<br/><br/>It doesn't hurt that a 2006 attempt to bring Supes back to the big screen, directed by Bryan Singer and starring Brandon Routh, didn't exactly turn the world on its ear.<br/><br/>Even with a new name, it will be hard for fans to shake the mental image of a lantern-jawed Christopher Reeve as Superman. However, Henry Cavill could do a <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/04/17/man-of-steel-trailer-superman-amy-adams_n_3100405.html" target="_hplink">pretty darned good job</a> of giving us a fresh look at an old friend. And a bad-ass General Zod will be pretty cool, too.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=37538&amp;q5679076=1" target="_hplink">Empire</a>]

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-marvel-phase-3-large570.jpg" />You didn't think Marvel was going to let you off the hook that easily, did you? Nope, the comic book company is already planning Phase Three of its sprawling media empire. Sounds sinister, doesn't it? It's not! We promise.<br/><br/>Phase One began with "Iron Man" and culminated in "The Avengers." Similarly, Phase Two just kicked off with the release of "Iron Man 3" and will end after a total of five movies with 2015's "The Avengers 2." Even though Marvel is still knee-deep in Phase Two, studio prez <a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/05/17/marvel-phase-3/" target="_hplink">Kevin Feige gave EW a very early preview</a> of what's coming down the pipeline.<br/><br/>Feige said, "I'd say 99 percent of our time right now is purely spent on Phase Two... It's five colossally giant motion pictures that we have to produce. So that's taking up the time. But within the next year or so we'll start the advanced planning for post-'Avengers 2.'"<br/><br/>The Marvel honcho was fairly forthcoming for details on movies that are still in their nascent stages. We do know that Edgar Wright's "Ant-Man" is a sure thing, and "Doctor Strange" is "one of the prime candidates." We all know that "Iron Man 4" would go over like gangbusters, but also that Robert Downey Jr. is still in talks over his part in the future of Tony Stark. "Black Panther" is still just a hope and a dream, though eagle-eyed writers have noted that Marvel might be filming some of "The Avengers 2" in Cape Town, a hint that, followed to conclusion, leads some to believe that <a href="http://www.slashfilm.com/marvel-rumors-black-panther-in-the-avengers-2-jeremy-renners-hawkeye-to-be-recast/" target="_hplink">BP could be a new recruit</a>. The rest of the Marvel cast of characters -- Daredevil, Ghost Rider, zombies, and so on -- are either very unlikely or still in the wishful thinking stages.<br/><br/>But what about The Hulk, you say? Feige told EW, "Mark [Ruffalo] could stand in his own movie. ... We're talking about it. We're excited to sit down and go, 'What is a stand-alone Hulk movie?'"<br/><br/>We've got a few years to find out.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/05/17/marvel-phase-3/" target="_hplink">EW</a>]<br/><br/><strong>EARLIER: <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2012/07/14/comic-con-2012-marvel-iron-man-3_n_1673689.html" target="_hplink">Comic-Con 2012 Marvel Panel: 'Iron Man 3' Trailer, 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' Announced</a></strong> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-avengers-2-quicksilver-large570.jpg" />"The Avengers 2" isn't due out until 2015, but we're all eager beavers for as much info as possible. Luckily, writer/director Joss Whedon is happy to oblige. <br/><br/>Whedon was at the ABC Upfronts this week chatting up the new Marvel show "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," when he revealed a few more details regarding the follow-up to 2012's big-budget blockbuster. Earlier, Whedon had <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/04/25/scarlet-witch-quicksilver-avengers-2_n_3157661.html" target="_hplink">let slip some juicy tidbits</a> about "a brother/sister act" that would appear in "The Avengers 2," which fans speculated would be Scarlet Witch and her twin Quicksilver. <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/17/joss-whedon-talks-quicksilver-the-scarlet-witch-and-iron-mans-roles-in-avengers-2" target="_hplink">In an interview with IGN,</a> the director more or less confirmed that assumption.<br/><br/>"You know, they had a rough beginning. They're interesting to me because they sort of represent the part of the world that wouldn't necessarily agree with The Avengers. So they're not there to make things easier. I'm not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier."<br/><br/>Another confirmation from Whedon? Tony Stark will (not surprisingly) be back for the sequel as well, even though he destroyed his suits at the end of "Iron Man 3." <br/><br/>"Well, I feel like in 'Iron Man 3,' even though he said, 'I've changed' -- he blew up his remote suits, but I don't think anybody thinks he doesn't have one anymore. The question is, if The Avengers are called, does he show up? And the answer is, 'Yes!'"<br/><br/>How will Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver figure into all of this? Guess we'll have to wait until the next time Whedon decides to let another tidbit slip. <a href="https://twitter.com/JossActual" target="_hplink">Perhaps on Twitter</a>?<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/17/joss-whedon-talks-quicksilver-the-scarlet-witch-and-iron-mans-roles-in-avengers-2" target="_hplink">IGN</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-captain-america-chris-evans-large570.jpg" />When you're Captain America, filming in the heart of Washington, D.C. is no big thing. Not everyone can pull it off (or get permits), but Marvel and Disney sure can. <br/><br/>Much to the delight of bystanders, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Scarlett Johansson were filming "Captain America: Winter Soldier" at the National Mall and thereabouts. The latter was in costume as the Black Widow, and the other two were just hanging around, being hot, and in the case of Evans, doing push-ups. Were they between scenes or was he in character? We won't know until next April.<br/><br/>"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" picks up where "The Avengers" left off, with the former 98-pound weakling trying to figure out how to handle the modern world after being frozen since WWII. Steve Rogers's old buddy Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) has returned, but now he's the eponymous Winter Soldier, a super bad guy.<br/><br/>As <a href="http://news.moviefone.com/2013/04/26/anthony-mackie-pain-gain-captain-america_n_3162312.html" target="_hplink">Mackie described it</a>, "This movie, 'Captain America,' has kind of become 'Avengers 1.5'; if you look at the cast they've put together, if you look at the number of characters that are in this movie. I mean, it's a huge number of superheroes and characters. The basic idea is that you have Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon that get together to take down the Winter Soldier."<br/><br/>Of course, folks are also pretty excited to see Robert Redford as a top S.H.I.E.L.D. official, and the return of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. With a 2014 release date, we'll have to take these snippets of action where we can get 'em. <embed width="576" height="324" src="http://media.nbcwashington.com/designvideo/embeddedPlayer.swf" flashvars="v=http%3A26path=//news/local" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" /> ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-rachel-mcadams-large570.jpg" />Rachel McAdams used to be the cool best friend of women everywhere, and we're hoping that the trailer for "About Time" will remind everyone of her rightful place in our hearts. It's quite appropriate that the movie that will help her achieve this is written and directed by Richard Curtis, the fellow behind of the most beloved modern romcoms, "Love Actually."<br/><br/>Domhnall Gleeson plays Tim, a regular, awkward dude who inherits the rare talent of time travel when he turns 21. As his dad explains, it's passed down through the men in their family. (The fabulous Bill Nighy, who was also in "Love Actually," plays his pops.) This gives him the ability to both rectify events from his past and complicate his future. Naturally, he meets an adorable woman named Mary (McAdams!) and things get super wonky because, hello, the butterfly effect!<br/><br/>Gleeson's character definitely has the floppy-haired awkward Hugh Grant thing happening, and, naturally, McAdams looks charming as all heck. We'll laugh, we'll cry, it will be better than "Cats"! And less depressing than McAdams's earlier foray into romantic time travel, "The Time Traveler's Wife."<br/><br/>"About Time" will open in limited release November 1, and then go wide November 8.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-arnold-schwarzenegger-large570.jpg" />What's weirder, that the former Governor of California might appear in "The Toxic Avenger," or that there's a 21st Century remake of the freaky underground favorite in the works?<br/><br/>The original "Toxic Avenger" was a low-budget, gross-out comedy about a nerd who mutates into a gnarly superhero and takes on the bad guys of Tromaville, NJ. Although it's not clear which part Arnold Schwarzenegger is in talks to play, this is indubitably an odd move for the former Terminator. Heck, it's an odd move to reboot this for today's audience, even with an updated story: to wit, "an average teen joins an environmental club to impress his crush. While doing some investigating at a waste plant, he is thrown into a tub of waste and transforms into a radioactive hero."<br/><br/>Writer and director Lloyd Kaufman and his studio, Troma Entertainment, have been an endless font of modern B-movie madness since the '70s. Movies like "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead" and "Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D." have been delighting weirdoes around the world, but none of the Troma titles have been particularly successful. Then again, when Hollywood is busy conjuring movies about board games, maybe something this strange is just what the doctor ordered.<br/><br/>"Hot Tub Time Machine" director Steve Pink is sharing screenwriting duties with Daniel C. Mitchell. Pink, who also wrote "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "High Fidelity," will direct. All of Pink's most famous movies star John Cusack, so let's hold out a tiny spark of hope that maybe, just maybe, he'll do a small cameo.<br/><br/>In the meantime, Schwarzenegger has a busy dance card. He's taken on the role of <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/arnold-schwarzenegger-returns-bodybuilding-as-425670" target="_hplink">group executive editor for Muscle &amp; Fitness and Flex magazines</a>, and has a number of other movies in development.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/arnold-schwarzenegger-star-toxic-avenger-521793" target="_hplink">THR</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-jaden-smith-large570-1369936621.jpg" />Will Smith has revealed that his "After Earth" co-star and son Jaden has asked to be legally emancipated for his 15th birthday. <br/><br/>Although this seems like it would be a difficult gift to put a bow on, Smith seems OK with the idea -- or at least cool enough to laugh it off. <a href="http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/will-smiths-son-jaden-wants-to-be-emancipated-from-parents/story-e6frf96o-1226641938630" target="_hplink">Smith told The Sun</a>, "[Jaden] says, 'Dad, I want to be emancipated.' I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place, like ooh..."<br/><br/>Will Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, are known for their laid-back approach to parenting. As Smith notes, "That's the backlash. On the other side, if kids just want to have command of their lives, I understand." Plenty of folks have tisk-tisk'd over the Smith kids and their choices, like Willow's punky style, but the method seems to be working well for the family. And they're definitely a successful bunch so far, from Jaden's acting career to Willow's music moves.<br/><br/>Jaden's acting career has mostly been under the tutelage of his father, Will. The two appeared as father and son in "The Pursuit of Happyness," and the elder Smith later produced a reboot of "The Karate Kid," which was Jaden's first starring role. They're reprising their onscreen relationship again in the upcoming M. Night Shyamalan film "After Earth," which opens May 31. Smith is also a producer on the film.<br/><br/>"After Earth" takes place in a dystopian future where humans live on planet Nova Prime; they left for mysterious reasons referred to only as a catastrophe. Cypher (Will Smith) is a commanding officer trying to bond with his less successful son Kitai (Jaden) by taking him on a mission to Earth. When they are the only survivors of a crash landing, they have to get to know each other better really quickly out of necessity.<br/><br/>Naturally, there are parallels between their onscreen and off-screen relationship, as Smith notes. "[Y]our father's the biggest movie star in the world, and you're struggling for your little piece of dignity in this extreme shadow."<br/><br/>Will Jaden soon be living on his own? Will their onscreen collaboration mean big box-office earnings? We'll have to wait until the end of May to find out about the latter, at least.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainment/will-smiths-son-jaden-wants-to-be-emancipated-from-parents/story-e6frf96o-1226641938630" target="_hplink">Herald Sun</a>]<br/><br/><HH--236SLIDEEXPAND--294761--HH> <div class="gallery-module movie-module">

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-angelina-jolie-large570.jpg" />Angelina Jolie, arguably one of the world's most famous actresses, lost her mother to ovarian cancer in 2007. After learning that she also has a predisposition to breast and ovarian cancer, thanks to genetic testing for a mutated BRCA1 gene, Jolie made the decision to have a preventative double mastectomy to lower her chances of developing breast cancer. <br/><br/>She revealed the details of this three-month process in <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/14/opinion/my-medical-choice.html?hp&amp;_r=1&amp;" target="_hplink">an op-ed for the New York Times</a> to spread the message that other people who have similar predispositions have options and can be empowered to take charge of their own health.<br/><br/>As Jolie notes, "Breast cancer alone kills some 458,000 people each year, according to the World Health Organization, mainly in low- and middle-income countries." Unfortunately, as she mentions, the genetic tests for mutations in the RCA1 and BRCA2 genes are prohibitively expensive for many. Anyone who has wrestled with insurance companies knows that preventative care can be hard to come by. Preventative surgery of this nature is not necessarily the right choice for every person, but the information and reassurance that Jolie provides is invaluable.<br/><br/>Jolie's article will also, hopefully, help others to feel less shameful about their own treatments and surgeries, and to feel hopeful about their prospects. After undergoing the surgery, she reports, "My chances of developing breast cancer have dropped from 87 percent to under 5 percent." In regards to the reconstructive surgery, "There have been many advances in this procedure in the last few years, and the results can be beautiful."<br/><br/>The tabloids follow Angelina Jolie's every move, along with her partner Brad Pitt and their children, so it seems that some sort of speculation would be inevitable. Kudos to Jolie for taking charge of her public image, in addition to her health, and spreading the word of empowerment to women facing cancer.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/14/opinion/my-medical-choice.html?hp&amp;_r=1&amp;" target="_hplink">NY Times</a>]

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-dungeons-and-dragons-movie-large570.jpg" />Warner Bros. has snapped up the rights to <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/dungeons-dragons-movie-warner-bros/" target="_hplink">develop a "Dungeons &amp; Dragons" movie</a>.<br/><br/>"Wrath of the Titans" writer David Leslie Johnson <a href="http://www.thewrap.com/movies/column-post/roy-lee-warner-bros-and-titans-writer-david-leslie-johnson-team-chainmail-exclusive-5692" target="_hplink">wrote a script in 2012</a> known as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chainmail_29" target="_hplink">"Chainmail"</a> that was to be developed at Warner Bros. The as-yet untitled "D&amp;D" movie will be based on that script, with some tweaks to it more in the style of that world-famous role-playing game. The original script took its cues from the pre-"D&amp;D" tabletop wargame with the same name, developed by Gary Gygax.<br/><br/>The sort of fanbase that enjoys "D&amp;D" is the stuff that studio execs dream of, but there's not really a way to capture the spirit of the open-ended game system on film. The storyline is co-created by the players and led by one Dungeon Master, with the adventure unfolding based on throws of the dice and minute-by-minute decisions. Trying to "reboot the franchise for a new generation," <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/dungeons-dragons-movie-warner-bros/" target="_hplink">as Deadline describes it</a>, is a fallacy because people still play "D&amp;D" on a regular basis, and while there are various versions with different rules and settings, you can set up a game any time, any place, with nothing but your imagination and a polyhedral dice.<br/><br/>There's already been one D&amp;D movie, a 2000 New Line flick with Jeremy Irons, Marlon Wayans, and Thora Birch, but it did <a href="http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=dungeonsanddragons.htm" target="_hplink">bupkis at the box office</a>. That movie's director, Courtney Solomon, is one of the producers of this project.<br/><br/>Let's see if they roll a natural 20 this time around.<br/><br/>[via <a href="http://www.deadline.com/2013/05/dungeons-dragons-movie-warner-bros/" target="_hplink">Deadline</a>] ]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/blog.moviefone.com/media/2013/05/r-the-worlds-end-trailer-large570-1369936695.jpg" />They say you can't go home again, but that won't stop some people from trying. In <a href="http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-worlds-end/10085159/main" target="_hplink">"The World's End,"</a> Simon Pegg plays a dodgy fellow named Gary who's determined to get his stodgy grown-up friends to recreate a pub crawl they went on 20 years ago. Their destination? A pub called, you guessed it, The World's End. They didn't make it there last time -- 12 pubs is rather a lot -- but this time, darn it, they'll see it through no matter what.<br/><br/>As Gary, Pegg drags his frequent co-star Nick Frost, actor/director Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman of "The Hobbit" and "Sherlock" fame, and serious dramatic actor Eddie Marsan along for the ride. Sure enough, The World's End and their goal of total drunken annihilation becomes a fight to save the world from glowy-eyed aliens. Of course, it's all a clever metaphor for growing up and all that, but still, braindead suburbanites! Beer! Boyish shenanigans!<br/><br/>Pegg and director Edgar Wright wrote "The World's End." Along with Frost, they're famous for collaborations on "Hot Fuzz," "Shaun of the Dead," and British TV show "Spaced," so you know "The World's End" will be loaded with pop culture references and rapid-fire humor. The trailer is so tantalizing, from Pegg's grungy aging teen look to Freeman's dorky Bluetooth earpiece. As Pegg <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2013/05/08/simon-pegg-the-worlds-end-movie/2143427/" target="_hplink">told USA Today</a>, "When Edgar and I were pitching it to each other, we had this idea as it being like 'The Big Chill' but if the corpse came along for the ride. That's Gary."<br/><br/>Sadly, "The World's End" is a sort of bookend to "Shaun" and "Hot Fuzz," meaning that, although it's likely the trio will work together again, this will be the end of their "blood and ice-cream trilogy." <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7328920.stm" target="_hplink">As Pegg described it</a>, "'Shaun of the Dead' has strawberry, 'Hot Fuzz' has the original Cornetto flavour, and there will be a mint-choc chip in the third film."<br/><br/>"The World's End" hits theaters on August 23.<br/><br/>
