There's no denying the congressional Democrats and President Obama have been major disappointments, and there's no denying that the forces arrayed against America's unions have done considerable damage.
The U.S. appears to have lost its sense of identity; it no longer feels like a national community. Rather, it seems to have mutated into a gladiatorial arena, a battleground where corporations compete for profits in a merciless zero-sum game.
