If we're going to take Donald Trump seriously as a presidential candidate, why not Kanye West? The line between joke and news-that-should-be-a-joke is getting blurred, and last night during the 2015 MTV VMAs, Kanye added a presidential announcement into his long MTV Video Vanguard speech.

As he said at one point, "It ain't about me. It's about new ideas. People who believe in truth. ... And yes, as you probably could guess by this moment. I have decided in 2020 to run for president."

He was *probably* kidding, but the Internet was happy to pick up the joke, and maybe some fans are hoping it turns out to be true. AJC created a gallery suggesting running mates, including -- obviously -- Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, among others.

Kanye's self-promoting in-laws, the Kardashians, took up the cause on social media:

The rest of the Internet got in on the fun as well:

Maybe Kanye should just announce now, for 2016, and give Trump a fun for his entertainment value.
