Last year, "Frozen" director Chris Buck blew all our minds when he revealed in a Reddit AMA that there's a link between that movie and 1999's "Tarzan" (which he also directed).

Basically, the theory boils down to this: The King and Queen of Arendelle (Elsa and Anna's parents) didn't die at sea. Instead, they had a baby boy on board, then got shipwrecked on the shores of a jungle. They built a treehouse, but end up getting eaten by a leopard.

But is this for real or something Buck just made up in his head? A bit of both. As he recently told MTV, "When you're working on a feature, you have a lot of time to think about stuff because it takes four years to make one. I think Jen [Lee, his co-director] and I were walking to a meeting, and I just start to tell her the entire story."

With the shipwreck scenario, he added, "In my little head, Anna and Elsa's brother is Tarzan — but on the other side of that island are surfing penguins, to tie in a non-Disney movie, 'Surf's Up.' That's my fun little world."

OK, so maybe it's not official — and nowhere close to being as involved as the Pixar theory — but it's a fun bit of backstory to think about.

"Whatever people want to believe, go for it," Buck said. "If you want to tie them all together, then do it."
