Sheesh. Poor Carrie Mathison ("Homeland" Season 5 starts on Showtime this fall, more than two years will have passed since the events of Season 4. The time jump won't exactly show us a happily ever after for Carrie, who has left the CIA and now works in Germany. In a new teaser, we see Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) tell Carrie, "You're being naive and stupid - something you never were before." He also asks her, "What are you atoning for?" She says, "I'm not atoning, I'm just trying to do good work." Later, we see her apparently kidnapped and dragged away. There are some quick shots of Quinn (Rupert Friend) but no real status updates when it comes to a Carrie/Quinn relationship. A lot can change in two years.

And here's the synopsis Showtime shared with the teaser:

Premiering this fall, Homeland will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison's ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the 'war on terror,' Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working as the head of security for a German philanthropist."

'Homeland" Season 5 is expected to premiere in September, although no specific date has been released yet. Are you in?
