Former "Saved By the Bell" star Dustin Diamond is set to spend four months in jail after he stabbed another man in a barroom fight late last year.

People reports that Diamond was formally sentenced on Thursday in connection with the incident, which occurred on Christmas Day 2014 at a bar in Wisconsin. According to People, the fight was reportedly started after a woman bumped into Diamond's girlfriend at the bar, leading to a chaotic brawl in which a man was stabbed by Diamond; the victim testified that he realized he had been stabbed and was bleeding after he left the bar.

Diamond was convicted in May of one count each of carrying a concealed weapon and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. He was cleared of a felony charge of recklessly endangering public safety.

"I sincerely apologize to everyone involved," Diamond said at his sentencing hearing on Thursday. "This was the single most terrifying experience of my life ... This is all I've been able to think about for the last six months."

Diamond, who was also sentenced to 15 months of probation, will report to jail on Sunday.
