The old adage "never judge a book by its cover" came into play for a group of "Magic Mike" fans during a recent screening of the flick's sequel, when star Channing Tatum donned a disguise to prank the unsuspecting filmgoers.

In a video posted to his Facebook page in support of an Omaze campaign, Tatum sat in a makeup chair and transformed into "Scott," a balding, bearded, bespectacled marketing rep for studio Warner Bros. Adopting a southern drawl, Tatum asked attendees at a "Magic Mike XXL" screening a series of ridiculous questions about the first flick, ranging from which parts they wished had been in 3D ("The pelvic thrusting," one woman eagerly replied) to if they actually cared about the story (a resounding "no").

Fans were obviously a bit skeptical of his queries (a question about "Magic Mike"'s accuracy vs. real male strippers produced some particularly amusing responses), but were quickly won over when the marketer promised attendees a "3D experience." That experience morphed into an actual striptease performed by a gaggle of gorgeous guys, who pulled Scott up onstage to unmask Tatum.

Check out the video below, which is worth it for the crowd's over-the-top enthusiasm as Tatum's ruse is uncovered. (A special shout-out to hyperbolic woman who said that after Tatum twerked on her, she "pretty much reached peak life.")

Watch me dance in disguise at the first-ever screening of Magic Mike XXL. We told fans it would be in "3D." I don't think they saw this coming...Watch, then enter to be my special guest at the premiere of #MagicMikeXXL.➤ENTER HERE: http://bit.ly/undercovermmxxl
