ABC Family has found its male lead for its upcoming series based on the "Mortal Instruments" books.

Variety reports that Dominic Sherwood ("Vampire Academy," Taylor Swift's "Style" video) has joined the "Shadowhunters" cast as Jace, a member of the the titular group of human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. He helps 18-year-old Clary Fray search for her mother who's gone missing, and helps Clary come to terms with her new identity as a Shadowhunter.

"Shadowhunters" seems to be a hard reboot of the "Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" movie, which starred Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower as Clary and Jace, respectively. That 2013 flick didn't score so well at the box office, prompting production company Constantin Film to reimagine Cassandra Clare's book series for a television format; it looks like "Shadowhunters" will act as if that flick never happened, and tell the "Mortal Instruments" story from the beginning.

ABC Family has ordered a 13-episode first season of the show, and the series premiere is set to be directed by McG. It's still looking to cast its leading lady.
