Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" finally has an official teaser trailer, and there's no mistaking the director's trademark style.

The short clip doesn't have any actual footage from the flick. Instead, it features a set of title cards that explain the film's basic premise -- it takes place on the American frontier shortly after the Civil War, eight strangers with a mysterious joint secret are stranded together in a snowstorm -- and introduces its eclectic cast of characters.

In typical Tarantino fashion, those introductions are made with stylish graphics, a funky soundtrack, and a set of ridiculous monikers. (Joe Cage, a.k.a. "The Cow Puncher," has us especially intrigued.) And yes, there's some blood spatter, too.

"The Hateful Eight" stars Michael Madsen, Tim Roth, Channing Tatum, Kurt Russell, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others. It's due in theaters later this year.
