guardians of the galaxy soundtrackMusic plays a big part in "Guardians of the Galaxy" in an interesting way, as the Star-Lord cruises the galaxy listening to sweet '70s tunes his late mom left him on a mix tape. As writer/director James Gunn explained, "that's the only thing he has left of his mother and that's the only thing he has left of his home on Earth. He uses that as a connection to his past and to the sadness that he feels of having left all that and lost all that."

Naturally, these nostalgic but rockin' tunes also resonated with fans of "GoTG." They've snapped up so many copies of "Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1" that it's number one on the Billboard 200. According to Billboard, "GoTG" and "Frozen" have been the only movie soundtracks this year to hit the charts, and this offbeat superhero movie's soundtrack is also unique in that all of its songs were previously released.
