The fourth season of FX anthology series "American Horror Story" has added another familiar face to its already star-studded ensemble: Patti LaBelle.
TVLine reports that the songstress is set for a four-episode "Freak Show" arc, and will play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character. The site writes that "LaBelle's alter ego - who ... does not sing - is a local townsperson who begins to unravel the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer."
LaBelle joins previously announced guest stars Michael Chiklis, who's playing a strongman and the husband of returning star Angela Bassett's character, and Wes Bentley, as a tormentor from Kathy Bates's character's past. Returning stars also include Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Frances Conroy.
TVLine also notes that "AHS" executive producer Tim Minear has promised that "Freak Show" will be "the best season so far. "It's not like the first three seasons," Minear told the site at Comic-Con.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres in October on FX.
