Another brief teaser for the final season of "Sons of Anarchy" amps up the death imagery, foreshadowing that perhaps things aren't going to end well for Jax (Charlie Hunnam) as the series winds down.

The clip shows Jax getting off his bike as a light from above flickers down over him (from the sounds of it, a helicopter searchlight seems to be the culprit). His face shifts between normal and a skull depending on when the beam hits him, giving the eerie impression that once he's out in the open, he's a dead man.

Whether or not the end is near for Jax is unclear just yet, though there's plenty of fodder for brutal endgame theories to gather from the official press release about season seven. The show will pick up just 10 days after the events of season six with Jax "in jail on a parole violation, grappling with the loss of the woman he loved. With the club's full support, he sets in motion the brutal machinations that will lead to complete and merciless retribution."

The final season of "Sons of Anarchy" -- guest starring musicians Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love -- premieres on FX on September 9.
