"Hot Tub Time Machine" was an unlikely hit when it debuted back in 2010, with the quirky, R-rated comedy hitting the sweet spot between "totally ridiculous" and "totally hilarious." Now, the gang is back for another dip in the titular time-traveling device, only this time they deliberately want to change the past -- but wind up in the future instead.

Finally, the follow-up has a red band trailer, and buddies Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke are all reprising their roles from the original. (John Cusack is sitting this one out.) The sequel finds Corddry's character, Lou (last seen in the first flick as a gazillionaire thanks to his stealing the idea for Google), in trouble and needing his friends to bail him out. But much like in the original, things don't exactly go as planned. Prepare for more debauchery, oodles of pop culture references, and what looks like a psychedelic sequence featuring neon ladybugs. We can't wait.

In addition to the main trio, Chevy Chase is also returning as his repairman character, and Collette Wolfe returns as Lou's girlfriend. Adam Scott, Gillian Jacobs, Thomas Lennon, and Jason Jones join the ensemble.

Director Steve Pink and writer Josh Heald return from the original.

"Hot Tub Time Machine 2" hits theaters on Christmas Day.
