There aren't a whole lot of details when it comes to the forthcoming season of FX's bloody brilliant (and just plain bloody) horror anthology "American Horror Story." We know that it's subtitle this year is "Freak Show," that it is set in the year 1950, in Jupiter, Florida, and that it's the last season for series mainstay Jessica Lange (joined by many of the gore-drenched "American Horror Story" regulars, including Evan Peters, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson, and Emma Roberts). The show doesn't return until around Halloween, but with the premiere of the similarly spooky "The Strain" last night on FX, it seemed like a good enough time to start the long, teasing preamble to the series' return. And this teaser is spooky.
The teaser is brief but evocative. A beautiful young girl, dressed in white, with feathery wings, dances on a stage under the words "Fallen Angel;" in the last couple of moments of the teaser we see that she is being control, essentially like a marionette, by an incredibly sinister-looking clown. (Co-creator Ryan Murphy had talked previously about how the main villain this season is a character called "Clown Killer," instead of Killer Clown, we guess?)
If this is only the first teaser, you can imagine how much blood-curdling things will get as we near the October debut. And you can bet that more of the teasers will debut before "The Strain's" first season is over. Watch with the lights on.
