In anticipation of the introduction of its newest Doctor, venerable BBC sci-fi series "Doctor Who" is launching a worldwide promotional tour, featuring cast and crew members.
Beginning August 7, new Doctor Peter Capaldi, his on-screen companion Jenna Coleman, and writer-exec producer Steven Moffat will travel across the globe for a series of appearances where they'll interact with fans and the media. The whirldwind tour will span seven cities and five continents over a period of 12 days, beginning in Cardiff, Wales, and ending in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In addition to promoting Capaldi's assumption of the Doctor role, the tour also coincides with the long-running series' growing popularity, which reached new heights last year with its record-breaking 50th anniversary special.
"It's a new beginning for one of the most popular series in the world, and we couldn't be more excited to have the Twelfth Doctor live in New York to promote the long awaited return of 'Doctor Who' on BBC America," said BBC America exec Richard De Croce in a statement. "It's going to be epic."
"It's fantastic that so many people across the world love 'Doctor Who,'" Capaldi added in a statement. "After 8 months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans."
The full tour itinerary is available at right here. The newest season of "Doctor Who" will premiere sometime in August 2014 on BBC and BBC America.
