Zach Galifianakis has had some pretty intimidating guests on his FunnyorDie.com show, "Between Two Ferns," like Bruce Willis, Sean Penn, and Justin Bieber. In his latest episode, the poker-faced comedian really brings things to a new level of awkward when he "interviews" President Barack Obama.
Anyone interviewing the President -- or, heck, even meeting the President -- has got to have nerves of steel, so we applaud Galifianakis's ability to keep a straight face (and clean pants) when giving the leader of the free world a good ribbing or two. Obama gives as good as he gets, though. When Galifianakis mentions the presidential term limits, Obama retorts that he wasn't bummed about not getting a third go-round in the Oval Office.
"If I ran a third time, it would sort of be like doing a third 'Hangover' movie. Didn't work out very well, did it?" The zings keep coming, with Galifianakis referring to "your home country of Kenya" and later calling the Prez a "nerd."
"Do you think a woman like Michelle would marry a nerd? Why don't you ask her if she thinks I'm a nerd?" Obama said. Unfortunately, it looks like the FLOTUS won't be appearing on "Between Two Ferns" any time soon, as Obama added that he wouldn't "let her near you." Then the discussion turns towards Healthcare.gov... Well, you should see the rest.
Obama has proven himself to be a fairly savvy user of social media, and he even did a Reddit AMA in 2012, back before it was de rigueur to promote your projects on the community site. Using FunnyorDie.com to get information out about health insurance isn't just wildly entertaining; it's smart.
