Based on the first official trailer for "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," the follow-up to 2005's "Sin City" hasn't changed too much of the original's formula.
The heavily-stylized cinematography, the violence, the sex -- it's all here in "A Dame to Kill For," which features some of the same players (Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Powers Boothe, Jaime King) as well as a star-studded group of newcomers (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert, Jamie Chung, Bruce Willis, Eva Green, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, and Stacey Keach, among others). And while there isn't much in the way of plot to discern from this clip (aside from the titular dames and killing, anyway), it should make fans of the first film pretty excited.
As for the rest of us, we'll have to wait for some more character development or story snippets from a more fleshed-out trailer. Though one character seems to sum up the film with a foreboding voiceover.
"Sin City is where you go in with your eyes open, or you don't come out at all," he says.
"Sin City: A Dame to Kill For" hits theaters on August 22.
