Kevin Hart has been having a hell of a year. His action buddy movie "Ride Along" was a surprise hit, grossing over $100 million on a budget of around $25 million, and this weekend he costars in a remake of "About Last Night," which should be fueled significantly by the Valentine's Day weekend and the fact that the Presidents' Day holiday gives it an extra day to rake in the bucks.
But that's not all!
Hart is about to enter the summer sequel arena with "Think Like a Man Too," the follow-up to the smash 2012 comedy "Think Like A Man" (based on the self-help book by Steve Harvey). The just-released trailer suggests that, if you don't know anything about the first film (or the sequel), that won't prevent you from laughing.
Basically, this one looks like a more urban take on the "crazy bachelor/bachelorette party in Las Vegas" subgenre. The trailer features a winning cast (including Regina Hall, Jerry Ferrara, Gabrielle Union, Taraji P. Henson, and Adam Brody), a musical number built around Bel Biv Devoe's "Poison" and Meagan Good's adorable haircut. The best moment in the trailer, by a fairly considerable margin, is Hart screaming in his jail cell after being arrested at a strip club. "You let me do all the talking -- I'm a season one holder of 'Oz!'" he squeaks. It's hysterical.
It also says something that "Think Like a Man Too," which reunites Hart with his "Ride Along" director Tim Story, is being introduced in the highly competitive summer season. This certainly looks funnier and smarter (and more culturally diverse) than almost any comedy that is coming out! It also, somewhat surprisingly, looks like it isn't totally misogynistic, which is good considering how in love we are with all the strong, fierce women in the cast. Shake it up, "Think Like a Man Too!"
