However, industry scooper Jeff Sneider at The Wrap let it be known over the weekend that he'd heard things were back in motion for "The Hateful Eight." (After all, it is Tarantino's " f***ing thing.")
RUMOR: THE HATEFUL EIGHT is back on, as sources tell ME that Quentin has reached out to Sam Jackson in the wk since he called off the movie.- Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) February 1, 2014
A representative for Samuel L. Jackson did not respond to MULTIPLE requests for comment over the last 4 days. Same goes for QT's reps at WME- Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) February 1, 2014
While these are just industry rumors, it's not hard to imagine Tarantino (understandably!) blowing his top over the leak of an early working draft, only to change his mind after cooling down and thinking it over. Fans would be psyched to see "The Hateful Eight" up next, especially with Bruce Dern riding high after "Nebraska."
I'm told that the initial betrayal came as a shock, but QT has calmed down & is having second thoughts about moving on. Will rewrite script.- Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) February 1, 2014
Screenwriter Brian Koppelman wrote an interesting piece for Grantland about the leak that puts Tarantino's reaction into perspective.
There's no word on Tarantino's lawsuit against Gawker for linking to the leaked script.
