Dread Central reports that production should begin soon on the flick, which follows the plot of Jane Austen classic "Pride and Prejudice," except, as rewritten by novelist Seth Grahame-Smith, it has also been infused with a zombie plague. Burr Steers ("17 Again") will direct, while Lily Collins ("The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones") will star.
The script was penned by David O. Russell, who initially was attached to direct the project before bowing out several years ago due to scheduling conflicts. Natalie Portman was also originally supposed to star, but also had to depart.
It's unclear if "Zombies" is the horror script to which Russell was referring when he mentioned late last year that he had written a screenplay in the genre. Though considering he specifically called out director Eli Roth as his dream collaborator -- and Roth's name isn't in the mix for "Zombies" -- it seems that perhaps this is a separate project entirely. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
