And one of the holy grails of "Twin Peaks"-iana is a collection of deleted scenes from the feature film, "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me." Supposedly, Lynch filmed enough material for the film for him to make three movies. He decided to focus on the 10 days leading up to the death of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), with the movie serving as a kind of prequel that also fills in a lot of the blanks in the intentionally mysterious series. But that hunk of vaulted deleted material, some say running the better part of an hour, has been lost... until now. In a recent interview, Ray Wise, who played Laura's father, Leland, says that the scenes will finally see the light of day as part of a deluxe Blu-ray box set Lynch is planning for release later this year.
In a new interview with Ain't It Cool (via Bleeding Cool), Wise said that the material is coming! "Well, I'm sure more rumors will come out of it, but we were meeting to discuss and do some things for the new box set that's coming out on Blu-ray. All the 'Twin Peaks' episodes, including the pilot, also paired with 'Fire Walk with Me,' the prequel movie," Wise told Ain't It Cool. "So, all the 'Twin Peaks' material is going to be in this new set, plus deleted scenes from 'Fire Walk With Me.'" Wiggity what?
The actor went on: "Yeah, it's going to happen. I don't know what happened to be able to do it, I suppose it has something to do with the French producers. But, it's happening. I guess the first cut of David's film, 'Fire Walk With Me,' was probably around three-and-a-half hours long, maybe approaching four, we'll probably see a lot of that material on the new set."
Wise then says that the release will happen "sooner rather than later." If this isn't one of your most anticipated Blu-ray releases of the year, then something might be wrong with you.
