What can we glean from the few seconds of material? Well, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is back, a little less than a year than he starred in his own spin-off movie (is anyone getting tired of the adamantium-clawed berserker?), there are some new characters, including one with very dramatic eye make-up (my editor is telling me that it's Warpath), and Jennifer Lawrence is predominantly featured, wearing a huge, floppy hat that probably wouldn't have been out of place in "American Hustle" (like "American Hustle," a large swath of this movie takes place in the '70s).
Singer is back to direct this latest "X"-installment, which features Wolverine traveling back in time to stop the creation of the Sentinels, giant robots that hunt mutants and destroy life for our beloved X-Men in a bleak future reminiscent of the "alternate" 1985 from "Back to the Future, Part II." So yes -- time travel, alternate universes, two different casts playing the same set of characters and the second biggest production budget in the history of Fox (after "Avatar"). What could go wrong?
Either way, we'll know more about what to expect from "X-Men: Days of Future Past" when that trailer drops on Monday. The movie opens on May 23, 2014.
