Ain't It Cool News caught up with Paul at the Sundance Film Festival, and asked if rumors that he was up for the part of Eddie Dean were true.
"I've had a ton of meetings on that," Paul told the site. "I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show (Paul's recently-wrapped series "Breaking Bad"), which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am. They're definitely planning on making it."
Paul acknowledged what Howard had already confirmed: The project has been delayed because it's such an ambitious, difficult-to-translate story. But the actor said he's definitely interested in being a part of Howard's vision for the series.
"I'm excited," Paul said. "Their goal is to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting."
Paul assured Ain't It Cool News that he "definitely will not" turn down the part of Dean if offered, describing the character as "pretty epic" and "iconic." Here's hoping his dedication to the project helps get "The Dark Tower" off the ground once and for all.
