Opening this Wednesday, Ron Burgundy and his team take New York by storm in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" and Joaquin Phoenix gets intimate with Scarlett Johansson's voice in the Spike Jonze-directed "Her." Meanwhile, Christian Bale and Amy Adams bring the '70s to life as con men (people?) in "American Hustle," getting a wide-release on Friday.

"Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" finds Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) and the Channel 4 News team in a new city, but up to the same old tricks. After losing his San Diego job to his wife, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), Burgundy decides to take on Manhattan as part of New York's first 24-hour news channel. Written and directed by Adam McKay -- with Ferrell co-writing -- the sequel brings back Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner, and features countless celebrity cameos.

Directed by Spike Jonze, "Her" stars Joaquin Phoenix as a lonely writer who forms a bond with his incredibly advanced computer system (voiced by Scarlett Johansson), eventually falling in love. Characteristic of Jonze's films, "Her" is original, quirky, humorous, and ultimately soulful. The star-studded cast features Amy Adams, Chris Pratt, and Rooney Mara, who plays the writer's prior love.

David O. Russell's follow-up to "Silver Linings Playbook" (2012), "American Hustle" tells the story of a brilliant con man (Bale) and his female partner (Adams), who are forced to work with Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) and the FBI to bring down some of New Jersey's most powerful men. The incredible cast is rounded out by Jennifer Lawrence, recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance, and the talented Jeremy Renner as the Mayor of Camden.

Also, in limited release this week:
  • "The Past" (French) stars Bérénice Bejo ("The Artist") as a mother of two, who asks her estranged Iranian husband for a divorce. When he returns home to Paris at her request, he discovers that she has already been seeing another man.
  • "Walking with Dinosaurs 3D" is an amazing animated adventure that depicts what it would be like to walk among the prehistoric beasts.
  • The third installment in the franchise, "Dhoom: 3" is an action-packed revenge thriller out of India from writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya.
