The long-gestating fourth installment of "The Chronicles of Narnia" series has just tapped an Oscar-nominated screenwriter to pen the project.
David Magee, who wrote Academy Award-nominated screenplays for "Life of Pi" and "Finding Neverland," will script "The Silver Chair."
"I have always loved 'The Chronicles of Narnia,' and I endlessly imagined myself finding my own passage into Narnia someday," Magee said in a statement. "All these years later, I'm getting to fulfill that wish just a little bit by writing the film adaptation of 'The Silver Chair' and could not be more excited about it."
This latest installment of the "Narnia" franchise comes after the last two films -- including the most recent adaptation, 2010's "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" -- disappointed at the box office. Adding Magee's pedigree to the project could breathe new life into the series, which many thought would never see all seven of Lewis's "Narnia" novels adapted.
A director and cast have yet to be announced. Stay tuned.
