"The Wolverine"
What's It About? Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is more human than X-Man in this stand-alone film that takes place in Japan. Not only has he lost his powers, but his memories of Jean Grey are driving him cuckoo. Which is too bad, because he's still got to fight off loads of gangsters, ninjas, and other slick villains -- including one green-eyed baddie from the past.
Why We're IN: Director James Mangold ("Walk the Line," "3:10 to Yuma") balances fantastic action with a more serious sensibility that recalls samurai films of yore. Plus, you don't need to be an X-pert X-Men fan to enjoy this movie.

"Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" –- The Rich Mahogany Edition
What's It About? If you haven't heard of San Diego's finest anchorman with the best mustache, coolest car, and most impressive library (which smells of rich mahogany), we really can't help you. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are arguably at their very best -- at least until "Anchorman 2" comes out.
Why We're IN: Featuring two discs, three cuts of "Anchorman," and commentaries and extras out the wazoo (deleted scenes, extended scenes, ad-libbing, and general shenanigans), this Blu-ray will have you in stitches.

New to DVD
"All the Boys Love Mandy Lane"
What's It About? Mandy Lane (Amber Heard) is beautiful but shy, so as you might expect from the title, all her schoolmates think she's pretty dreamy. Possibly against her better judgment, she agrees to go on a weekend trip with some pals to a ranch, which turns out to be a deadly decision for almost everyone involved.
IN or OUT: Decidedly mixed, but genre fans might want to give it a whirl.

"Drinking Buddies"
What's It About? Olivia Wilde and Jake Johnson star as two friends with romantic potential. Will Kate and Luke ever hook up, or will they linger in the friend zone? Then there are Luke's wedding-ready girlfriend Jill (Anna Kendrick) and Kate's boyfriend Chris (Ron Livingston) to consider. The age-old question of whether or not a man and a woman can remain "just friends" is up for grabs in this bittersweet indie by Joe Swanberg.
IN or OUT: In.

"Marvel's Iron & Hulk: Heroes United"
What's It About? This animated film combines two awesome superheroes who work great together. The Hulk is all green brawn and Iron Man is all brains, so as a team they can really give the bad guys what-for. Watch out, Mandroids!
IN or OUT: Strictly for kids (or kids at heart).

"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones"
What's It About? Lily Collins stars as YA heroine Clary Fray, your typical NYC teen who discovers she's actually from a long line of Shadowhunters. Clary has to ditch her normal life for a world of angels, demons, vamps, warlocks, tattooed babes, and other supernatural creatures. It hits all the "Twilight" notes, which is not for every audience.
IN or OUT: Out.

"The Smurfs 2"
What's It About? The Smurfs are always getting into some smurfin' trouble. Christina Ricci and JB Smoove voice the Naughties, two badly behaved Smurf-like creatures created by Gargamel (Hank Azaria) to snag our blue babe, Smurfette. Katy Perry returns as the voice of Smurfette, as does Neil Patrick Harris as the Smurfs' human pal.
IN or OUT: Out.

"Winnie Mandela"
What's It About? Jennifer Hudson flexes her dramatic chops as the revolutionary Winnie Mandela. Unlike the films that focus on her husband Nelson Mandela (played here by Terrence Howard), this story is all about the woman behind the anti-apartheid movement; it's too bad that the movie takes a paint-by-numbers approach to her story.
IN or OUT: Out.

New to Blu-ray
"Argo" –- The Declassified Extended Edition
What's It About? If you missed this Oscar-winning drama about a crazy CIA plot to extract hostages from Iran, this is your chance to get a gander at the theatrical release and an extended cut. There are also some pretty cool behind-the-scenes features, including a look at how Ben Affleck did double duty as star and director, interviews, commentary, and more.
IN or OUT: In.

"The Ghost & Mrs. Muir"
What's It About? Gene Tierney stars as the eponymous widow who falls for a spectral sea captain played by Rex Harrison. But what happens to her otherworldly relationship when she meets a real-life guy? This is one of director Joseph L. Mankiewicz's earlier films, but no less a romantic classic. The commentaries from people like movie historian Jeanine Basinger are sure to please any film buff.
IN or OUT: In.

"Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion" –- The Criterion Collection
What's It About? Gian Maria Volonté stars as a police inspector who's already cracked his latest case -- but only because he was the guy who committed the grisly crime in the first place! Will anyone else catch on, or will he get off scot-free? This Oscar-winning drama has all the trimmings you'd expect from Criterion, like a documentary about its star and an interview with composer Ennio Morricone.
IN or OUT: In.

"Matilda" -- Special Edition
What's It About? This adaptation of the book by Roald Dahl is a fanciful tale of a super-smart young gal (played by Mara Wilson) who goes up against some pretty lame adults with fun and funny results. Danny DeVito directs and co-stars with Rhea Perlman, Pam Ferris, and Embeth Davidtz.
IN or OUT: In.

"Nashville" –- The Criterion Collection
What's It About? Robert Altman's 1975 classic offers an all-star cast that includes Karen Black, Lily Tomlin, Ronee Blakley, Keith Carradine, and Shelley Duvall, plenty of country and western songs, and numerous storylines that add up to one heckuva movie. Naturally, Criterion's added a making-of documentary with tons of interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and a digital restoration.
IN or OUT: In.

"Pain & Gain" -- Collector's Edition
What's It About? Is this Michael Bay's acerbic take on the American dream, or a celebration of all things big and beefy? This weird crime film is based on a true story about a personal trainer who thinks the answer to all his problems could be solved by kidnapping and extorting a rich client. Nope! Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Anthony Mackie star as the knuckleheaded criminals, with Tony Shalhoub as their equally loathsome mark.
IN or OUT: In.

"Saturn 3"
What's It About? This bizarre science-fiction flick stars Farrah Fawcett and Kirk Douglas as honeys stationed in space. Harvey Keitel plays a jerk who arrives to replace someone on board with a robot named Hector, which goes about as well as you'd expect.
IN or OUT: B-movie fans will be in; everyone else will be decidedly out.

"Serpico"
What's It About? Al Pacino gives one of his finest performances here as an honest cop in a crooked world. "Serpico" is based on a true story about a New York police officer ground down by the hypocrisy and corruption he sees on a daily basis; eventually, he blows the whistle on the whole lot, but at a huge personal cost. A '70s classic from the late director Sidney Lumet.
