"We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for 'Star Wars: Episode VII,' where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture," said Disney chairman Alan Horn.
The movie, directed by J.J. Abrams and co-written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, has been making headlines recently (you may have noticed) about producers' scrambling to make a projected summer 2015 deadline. It looks like Disney heard their pleas and will give them an extra few months to finish the hotly-anticipated project.
"Episode VII" is already in pre-production, and shooting is expected to start in spring 2014 in London. May the Force be with us until then.
