For the second year in a row, Robert Downey Jr. is king. The actor once again topped Vulture's list of the 100 Most Valuable Stars, defined by the entertainment site as "the actors who can still most positively affect a movie's gross in a post-sure-thing world."

To determine rankings, Vulture consulted an independent statistical analyst who collected data on the site's behalf, including each actor's E-Score, or how aware the public is of a particular performer. Other factors that went into the rankings included stars' domestic and overseas box office hauls, their overall likability, Oscar wins, and their appearances in tabloids and mentions on Twitter.

RDJ reigned supreme thanks to his box-office dominance in films like "The Avengers" and "Iron Man 3" (which also happen to be the highest-grossing films of the past two years and are two of the top five earners ever). Vulture also noted that Downey's "appeal is off the charts," and following his earlier drug busts, the actor has since "managed his stardom with grace and good humor."

"It will take a superhuman effort for anyone to top him," the site proclaimed.

The highest-ranking actress on the list was third place finisher Jennifer Lawrence, who has a pair of successful franchises under her belt -- "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men" -- in addition to a shiny new Oscar for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook." Lawrence is "as beloved as ever" since snagging the statuette, Vulture wrote, and is poised for even more success with the upcoming release of "American Hustle."

"Her former co-stars and directors can't get enough of her, which only cements her Best Friend Ever vibe," the site said. "Simply put, Jennifer Lawrence is the biggest and most versatile young star we've got."

Rounding out the top ten on the list were Leonardo DiCaprio, Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Christian Bale, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, and Johnny Depp. Other notable entries included Melissa McCarthy at No. 27 and Michael Fassbender at No. 37, who both jumped 58 spots on the list from their 2012 positions.
