When it came time to (finally) turn Orson Scott Card's beloved young adult novel "Ender's Game" into a big-screen spectacle, it was clear that some magic was going to need to happen in order to transform what was once only words on a page into a feast for the eyes. For that, the filmmakers relied on concept artists, whose job it was to take a world that lived solely in the imagination of millions of readers and make it a lot more real. The end result was a visually striking collection of illustrations that reflected the overall look and feel of the movie.
Below, you'll find 10 of these illustrations, each representing a pivotal moment, important location, or signature element from Ender Wiggin's world. From the battle and simulation rooms to a future Earth, the photos represent a visual landscape that contrasts the lush organics of Earth with the stark minimalism of aerospace technology. Needless to say, it's pretty darn cool.
But that's enough from us; the images below have plenty to say on their own. And if you're looking for even more concept art, check out "ENDER'S GAME: Inside the World of an Epic Adventure."
"Ender's Game," starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, and Viola Davis, blasts into theaters November 1.
