Lars von Trier has never really done anything in half-measures, so it's not really a surprise that the stand-alone character posters for his upcoming sexual epic "Nymphomaniac" are majorly graphic by implication. Each actor is nude, but the real focus is on the face; it seems the shutter was snapped at the moment of mimicked climax or similarly intimate post-coital states.
The posters for the main characters feature Charlotte Gainsbourg as Joe, the eponymous nympho, Stacy Martin as the young Joe, Christian Slater as her father, Connie Nielsen as her mother, and a spate of other major characters. Stellan Skarsgard plays Seligman, an older man that Joe confides in, and Shia LaBeouf plays one of young Joe's lovers, Jerôme. Uma Thurman appears as Mrs. H., who was also featured in a particularly uncomfortable clip where she confronts Joe and her philandering husband, Mr. H. Jamie Bell, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth, Sophie Kennedy Clark, Udo Kier, Jens Albinus, and Nicolas Bro also get their own posters.
The newest "appetizer" from the movie is dubbed "Delirium," and it's a strange, moody little teaser that's supposed to be about the death of Joe's father. It will all probably make sense once we see the entire movie, which is reportedly a two-part, five-hour affair that will be released with two separate cuts -- one that will show a whole lot more about life as Joe the nympho. Given the film's tagline, "Forget About Love," well, the final product will probably be less sexy than just plain sad.
