A Case Of You Premiere NYAP

Bolivar Trask, Peter Dinklage's character in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," is being billed as one of the film's major villains, but for Dinklage, that distinction isn't so black and white.

The actor spoke about the role with Entertainment Weekly, where he said that Trask, the scientist behind Sentinels -- a.k.a. robots bent on hunting down mutants -- was more than meets the eye.

"I didn't want to play the villain," Dinklage said. "He's a man of science. He's a man of invention. He actually sees what he's doing as a good thing -- [his ambition is] definitely blind and he's quite arrogant. He's strove all his life for a certain respect and attention."

The mutants have more than just Trask and the Sentinels to worry about in the time-spanning film, and that Dinklage added that Trask himself faces some pretty tough adversaries -- including President Richard Nixon.

"He's got some hurdles," Dinklage told EW.

Catch Dinklage, along with a host of returning stars including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence, in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," which opens May 23, 2014.
