Vin Diesel's Facebook page is a window into his soul -- and his career. Dude does not hold back, on anything, probably to the chagrin of studios and major corporations that back his filmic endeavors. But if you're looking for up-to-date info on the gravel-voiced actor, it's a great place to go, and was the first place where he announced that he was talking to Marvel about becoming part of an upcoming project (later revealed to be a voice role in next summer's "Guardians of the Galaxy") and the spot where he dropped production artwork back when "Riddick" was just a glimmer in his eye. Now he's gone and unleashed the first photo (below) from "Fast & Furious 7" on his Facebook page, for all of his 47 million followers. "Like."
The photo is pretty much what you'd expect: Diesel in a leather jacket and his girl's metal cross, looking pensive. His costar, Paul Walker, standing beside him, looking worse for wear, in a hoodie that we're pretty sure he's been wearing since the first movie. Diesel's caption for the photo reads: "Seven... Has begun..." (Diesel knows that tough guys use ellipses.) Diesel and Walker seem to be standing on what looks like a swampy dock, which is interesting because members of the production swore up and down that the movie would be taking place in Los Angeles, a town notable for its lack of swampy docks (they're actually filming in Louisiana -- at least right now).
The seventh film is being directed by "The Conjuring'"s James Wan, a newcomer to the franchise (every movie since the third was directed by the incredibly talented Justin Lin), and is said to be more of a down-and-dirty road race/revenge movie, as opposed to the oversized heist film that the last few installments had become. The cast is genuinely unstoppable, with Diesel and Walker being joined, once again, by Dwayne Johnson and Tyrese Gibson, with new cast members arriving in the form of Jason Statham as the villain, Kurt Russell (!), Tony Jaa (double !) and Djimon Hounsou.
In short: we cannot wait. Thankfully, we won't have to wait long: "Fast & Furious 7" opens on July 11, 2014, a little over a year after the previous installment. Hopefully we can expect new movies every six months from now on. That's feasible, right?
