One of the big X-factors in the casting of David Fincher's highly anticipated adaptation of Gillian Flynn's "Gone Girl" was Andie, a buxom young girl who our lead Nick (Ben Affleck) has an affair with. Well, that missing puzzle piece has been found with Emily Ratajkowski, best known from Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video.
The model/actress has previously appeared on the Fox sitcom "New Girl" and had a recurring role on the Nickelodeon show "iCarly." Her appearance in Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, where she appears topless and in a pair of very sheer underwear, has helped propel the video to viral sensation status, with almost 174 million views on YouTube. This is her first major film role.
Ratajkowski joins a cast that, along with Pike and Affleck, includes Tyler Perry as a wormy defense attorney, Carrie Coon as Affleck's twin sister, Kim Dickens and Patrick Fugit as a pair of cops investigating the case, and Neil Patrick Harris as an ex-flame of the titular gone girl. Almost all the major roles have been buttoned up, save for the Alzheimer's-plagued father of the Affleck character, and a Nancy Grace-style news anchor who propels the case to national notoriety. (It's unclear if these characters have been omitted from the screenplay, which was also written by Flynn.)
Filming for "Gone Girl" begins soon, with Affleck immediately going from this film to his role as the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" sequel. "Gone Girl," by our estimation, should be released sometime next year, either in the summer or fall. We cannot wait.
