It's less than a minute long, but the first trailer for "Under the Skin" has us hooked.
Scarlett Johansson is all kohl-lined eyes and black hair in her role as an alien named Laura who's trolling Scotland for male prey. Like, as in outer space, maybe? It's still pretty mysterious, and we'd like to keep it that way! The trailer itself is composed of mere snatches of action set to Mica Levi's chilling soundtrack, and it is most definitely for adults who have had their coffee this morning. It's a tad disturbing.
"Under the Skin" is based on the first novel by Michel Faber, the talented author who penned "The Crimson Petal and the White." The novel has been described as "an 'Animal Farm' for the new century," and one Amazon reader commented, "I could not finish this book. It was gross and disturbing and bothered me later in the day even hours after I stopped reading it. I finally just threw the book in the trash. Didn't even want to pass it on to anyone else to read. First time I've ever done this!"

Given director Jonathan Glazer's intense and disturbing previous films "Sexy Beast" and "Birth," it's no surprise he threw "Under the Skin" on his to-do pile. So far there's no release date for for the indie, but it's just starting a tour of fall film festivals so we can expect more information soon.
