"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" has found its Ultron in Emmy-winning actor James Spader.

Marvel made the casting announcement today, revealing that Spader will menace the Avengers as Hank Pym's evil robotic creation in Joss Whedon's upcoming sequel to the 2012 box office smash "The Avengers."

Best known for his role as Alan Shore on "Boston Legal" and "The Practice," as well as his comedic turn as Michael Scott-replacement Robert California on "The Office," Spader most recently appeared on the big screen in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln."

"Avengers" and "Thor" star Tom Hiddleston, whose villainous Loki won't appear in the follow-up, has already thrown his Asgardian weight behind the news:

"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits theaters May 1, 2015.
