NBC golden girls Tina Fey and Amy Poehler didn't disappoint when they took the stage as co-hosts of the network's 2013 Golden Globe Awards, delivering a hilarious opening monologue that offended only Taylor Swift (and possibly James Cameron).
"Meryl Streep is not here tonight," said Poehler during the act. "She has the flu, and I hear she's amazing in it."
That was just one of several harmless-yet-impeccably-delivered jokes that delighted the crowd instead of making them cringe (ahem, Oscars host Seth MacFarlane) -- a comedic feat that contributed to the 17 percent year-over-year ratings boost for the ceremony.
So it comes as no surprise that Deadline is reporting that the actresses have been approached to reunite the dream team for next year's show, though nothing is official just yet. According to the site, "there are no active conversations between the network and the funny ladies, who have received an informal invitation versus a formal offer."
Our fingers are crossed that Fey and Poehler find time in their busy schedules for Golden Globes round two; we should know by the end of November if we're in for an early January treat.
