Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow in 'Thanks for Sharing'Roadside Attractions

What's a recovering sex addict to do when Gwyneth Paltrow enters his life? That's the struggle facing Adam (Mark Ruffalo) in "Thanks for Sharing," which focuses on a support group for reformed addicts.

Adam is five years sober -- "I remembered feeling like I was gonna die if I didn't have sex," he tells the group -- and trying to keep his life as normal as possible. He wards off temptation by shunning television, and helps mentor a sex addict new to the group, played by Josh Gad, who's finding it hard to ignore the urges sparked by lingerie-touting billboards and couples kissing in public.

The trailer seems to land more on the comedy side of the dramedy equation, though we're betting Adam's confession to Phoebe (Paltrow) that he's a sex addict -- and her subsequent reaction -- will balance things out. The movie's eclectic supporting cast includes Tim Robbins and a blue-streaked-hair Pink (credited with her real name, Alecia Moore) as fellow addicts, and also features Patrick Fugit and Joely Richardson.

Written by "The Kids are All Right" scribe Stuart Blumberg, "Thanks for Sharing" is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before its September 20 release.
