"Amour"
What's It About? Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke tells the heart-wrenching story of an elderly couple fighting against the deterioration of the body and mind in this brutally honest French drama. Georges (Jean-Louis Trintignant) and Anne (Emmanuelle Riva) are retired octogenarian music teachers whose lives vastly alter when Anne suffers from the first of several strokes. Georges struggles to take care of his wife as watches her gradually lose her ability to move and speak.
Why We're IN: One of the most powerful films in recent years and winner of the 2012 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, "Amour" shows love at its most harrowing. Known as a horror master, Haneke uses slow-pacing and raw storytelling in this film to truly show life's real horrors. With some of the best performances ever from Riva and Trintignant, "Amour" is not merely a film that will make you weep, it is one that will shock you and stay with you longer than you may want it to.

"Charulata"
What's It About?
By India's acclaimed filmmaker Satyajit Ray ("Pather Panchali"), 1964's "Charulata" follows the story of the eponymous woman living in 19th-century, pre-independence Calcutta. Married to a newspaper editor, the lonely Charulata has a burning desire for creativity. When her husband's poet cousin comes to stay with them she begins to explore her autonomy as she becomes both inspired by and attracted to the cousin.
Why We're In: One of Ray's best films, "Charulata" employs slow pacing to build a sincere, evocative story of love and idealism. The film won two awards at the Berlin Film Festival and features a memorable performance from Madhabi Mukherjee.

"Killing Season"
What's It About? Robert De Niro stars alongside John Travolta in the action thriller from Mark Steven Johnson ("Ghost Rider"). De Niro plays Ford, an American military vet of the Bosnian War who begins a friendship with Travolta's Kovac, a traveling tourist. A war breaks out between the two when Ford discovers Kovac is a Serbian soldier seeking revenge. This star-studded game of cat-and-mouse is far too uninspired to be saved even by the two great actors.

"No One Lives"
What's It About?
Starring Luke Evans this horror thriller follows a gang of criminals who kidnap a wealthy couple, only to be pursued by a seasoned killer. "No One Lives" substitutes chilling suspense for excessive bloodshed and fails to be anything near memorable.

"Rapture-Palooza"
What's It About? Written by Chris Matheson ("Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure"), "Rapture-Palooza" takes the End of Days story to raunchy heights. After the citizens of Seattle go to heaven in the Rapture, Anna Kendrick's Lindsay is left behind and becomes the desired bride of The Beast (Craig Robinson). While also starring funny guys Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong (as God), and Thomas Lennon "Rapture-Palooza" suffers from a lack of substantial humor.

"Scary Movie 5"
What's It About? The fifth installment of the raunchy pop culture parody franchise only makes us wonder why the filmmakers didn't stop at "4." While attempting to earn laughs with jokes on "Black Swan" and "127 Hours," "Scary Movie 5" only manages to embarrass itself and not in the good we're-laughing-with-you kind of way. If anything this film marked hitting complete rock bottom for its two leads: Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen.

"Shadow Dancer"
What's It About? In this tense thriller from Oscar-winning director James Marsh ("Man On a Wire"), Andrea Riseborough ("Oblivion") plays an IRA member-turned-informant for the MI5. When arrested for her involvement in an IRA plot, an MI5 officer (Clive Owen) offers her the choice of spying on her own family to stay out of prison. Taut and intelligent with compelling performances, "Shadow Dancer" is a gripping thriller that focuses on relationships over politics.

"The Big City" (Criterion Collection)
What's It About? Another classic from Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, 1963's "The Big City" also stars Madhabi Mukherjee ("Charulata") in another role about the changing contemporary Indian woman. Set in 1950s Calcutta Arati (Mukherjee), the subjugated wife of a banker, decides to get a job to help support her family. Another one of Ray's moving dramas, "The Big City" is a must-see for fans of his work or any art house fan.

"Evidence"
What's It About? This horror thriller stars Stephen Moyer ("True Blood") and Radha Mitchell ("Silent Hill") as two detectives using found footage from the murdered victims of a crime scene to find the killer. With a weak script and uninteresting characters, "Evidence" is highly predictable and unwatchable.
