The sequel to "Thor" -- "Thor: The Dark World" -- looks like it will live up to its name.
This latest trailer presents a very dark world indeed, showing off even more danger and destruction than what's already been teased, with less of an emphasis on the possibly doomed love between Thor and Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).
Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is in fine form here as he lurks around all conniving and goth; he's the type of character we love to hate, the sort of creepy-sexy villain who enjoys it when Jane punches him in the face -- "for New York!"
Heimdall (Idris Elba) also shows up to offer some Thor some wisdom, although there's not a lot of information to be had on how to fight the dark elves and their leader Malekith (Christopher Eccleston).
The glimpses of epic action are what will get butts in seats this November. Seriously, check out those skull-faced elves and the weird stone monster that Thor has to face near the end of the trailer.
Thor and Mjölnir will be dropping into theaters November 8.
