Wouldn't that be convenient?
In a chat with People at an "Elysium" screening in New York yesterday, star Matt Damon revealed that he's not naturally as ripped as his tatted-up character, Max. So to prepare for his role in Neill Blomkamp's sci-fi actioner, he hit the gym for four hours a day for several months, while also adhering to a strict diet.
"It was really hard because I love to eat and drink!" he confessed.
When asked if his wife, Luciana, was into his "Elysium" bod, Damon joked, "I think she likes the variety," adding that he's trying to persuade her to be equally as into his bulkier "Informant" look. "I'm trying to talk her into [liking] that guy because that's the guy I'm most comfortable being."
To play schlubby Mark Whitacre in the 2009 Steven Soderbergh film, the actor packed on 40 pounds by indulging in pizza, burgers, and dark beer.
"At my age, all I had to do to gain weight was eat the way I did when I was in college and the weight went on instantly," he told the New York Daily News before the dark comedy hit theaters. "It was a little horrifying."
