San Diego Comic-Con plays host to a wide variety of characters and caters to all sorts of interests, but this is a new one.

Among the panels for Jack Black's new web series "Ghost Ghirls," how to break into comic books, and My Little Pony, Metallica will be appearing on a panel to discuss their new movie "Metallica Through the Never" in the monstrous Hall H on Friday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m.

In what's sure to be a change from the tumultuous doc "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," this film is a hybrid 3D concert film and weird narrative following the misadventures of the band's roadie, played Dane DeHaan. (We might have to wait for the DVD extras to find out whether or not the film/doc required a shrink on hand, as in "Some Kind of Monster.")

The guys behind the guitars will be at Comic-Con, along with writer/director Nimrod Antal ("Predators," "Vacancy") and producer Charlotte Huggins, to show off the theatrical trailer and new footage.

It's been a hot minute since "Enter Sandman" was played on MTV every day, but James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo clearly refuse to stop rocking. Their crusade against file-sharing seems to have quieted down a bit, though.
