Channing Tatum is no stranger to versatility, portraying everything from an action hero to a romantic lead to a male stripper on the big screen. But his next role might be the most unique in his repertoire: a wolf-human hybrid.
Tatum revealed that strange makeup is the basis for his character in the new film from Lana and Andy Wachowski, "Jupiter Ascending." The concept flick stars Mila Kunis as a cleaning lady, who, according to Slash Film, "unbeknownst to her shares a genetic makeup with the Queen of the Universe. The Queen isn't all that happy about the existence of a potential rival, and sends a character played Channing Tatum to track her down."
While promoting his upcoming action flick "White House Down," Tatum talked for the first time about his experience shooting "Jupiter," including the juicy, odd description of his part.
"I'm a splice," the actor explained. "Splices are essentially built in a test tube. I'm a hybrid wolf and human. And half albino, so I'm a little defective."
That's certainly a departure from his shirtless performance in "Magic Mike." The rest of "Jupiter Ascending" sounds like it will be equally unique, as Tatum said the film is "breaking ground" with its effects and tone.
"We're doing stuff that's never been done, inside the camera, in the CG world, and the physical stuff. There's very little, if not no, digital stuntmen in the movie," he said. " ... [The Wachowskis] don't like doing anything that's been done before. ... And it's fun, it's got some cheek to it."
Count us intrigued. "Jupiter Ascending" hits theaters July 25, 2014.
