James Gandolfini passed away in Rome, Italy, on June 19 of a suspected heart attack, and a hospital source tells Reuters the official autopsy report has named that as the cause of death.

The "Sopranos" star was on vacation with his 13-year-old son Michael at the time, and it was the teen who found his father collapsed in their hotel bathroom and called for help. Gandolfini was taken to nearby Policlinico Umberto I hospital, where attempts to resuscitate the actor failed.

"The resuscitation maneuvers, including heart massage, continued for 40 minutes and then, seeing no electric activity from the heart, this was interrupted and we declared James dead," Emergency Room Chief Dr. Claudio Modini revealed to Reuters and other outlets.

A spokesman for Gandolfini's family corroborated the Reuters report, telling the media, "Today we received the results of the autopsy, which stated he died of a heart attack, of natural causes. The autopsy further states that nothing else was found in his system."

Gandolfini had been slated to make an appearance at the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily over the weekend.

Amid the outpouring of grief from Hollywood, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Gandolfini's TV daughter, Meadow Soprano, on "The Sopranos," paid touching tribute to her late co-star in a heartfelt statement: "I spent 10 years of my life studying and admiring one of the most brilliant actors, yes, but more importantly, one of the greatest men," she said. "Jim had the ability, unbeknownst to him, to make you feel like everything would be alright if he was around. I treasure my memories with him and feel so honored that I was an up close witness to his greatness."
