Will Jughead eat braaaaains?
Deadline reports that Warner Bros. is making a live-action movie based on the iconic "Archie" comics. Jason Moore ("Pitch Perfect") will direct, with Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ("Glee") penning the screenplay. Sources tell the site that the movie will be a "high school comedy based on the original line of Archie Comics set in present day Riverdale."
There's also been some speculation that the "Archie" movie would incorporate zombies -- yes, zombies -- mostly because they appear in Aguirre-Sacasa's "Afterlife With Archie" comic.
The new title "combines two of my great passions, Archie comics and horror comics," he said.
But before we start counting our zombies, comic writer Brian Lynch pointed out on Twitter that neither the studio nor "Archie" publisher John L. Goldwater indicated that the movie would be based on "Afterlife."
Deadline.com thinks the ARCHIE movie will have zombies because the screenwriter also wrote an ARCHIE comic with zombies.- Brian Lynch (@BrianLynch) June 6, 2013
What's weird is how many other sites are picking up that there is an ARCHIE zombie movie coming. It's a bad guess stated as fact.- Brian Lynch (@BrianLynch) June 6, 2013
Well, Aguiree-Sacasa also wrote an "Archie"/"Glee" crossover comic series. And Moore did helm "Pitch Perfect." So, maybe the movie will have zombies who form an a cappella group and break out into song!
