As we move to the final semi-final match up in this Summer Sequel Smackdown it is great to see that Potter's one true rival -- The Lord of the Rings -- has reigned supreme over the other fandoms. It goes without saying that both franchises have produced spectacular films, so we are not surprised that they come head to head in this final Moviefone bout.

With that said, we still think Harry Potter should win.

First let's start with the race between Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Lord of the Rings: Two Towers. Is this even a fair contest? Why, yes! The last epic installment in the Potter series as well as the second in the Lord of the Rings trilogy scored exactly 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. In terms of epic battles Deathly Hallows - Part 2 most certainly exceeded expectations, and showed a more diverse array of action and characters than the final battle in Two Towers, which depicted mass computer-generated armies which come off as much faker than the battle at Hogwarts. It's true that special effects had come a long way in the nine or so years between the making of these movies, and because of this Harry Potter truly comes out on top.

Then there's the second race between Prisoner of Azkaban and Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. This is a tough one, but it makes sense that the final film in the trilogy should face what is quite possibly the greatest Harry Potter film of all time. Alfonso Cuaron, director of the epic Children of Men, is celebrated worldwide for his direction of Prisoner, which arguably is the most creative of its counterparts depicting some of the most magical scene switches and camera angles in the series. And who can forget the scene where the Whomping Willow squishes the bird? -- Classic!

At the end of the day both of these book series movie adaptations are superb. A voter needs to go with their favorites and we have clearly defined ours. Which are yours?
