CATEGORIES Movie NewsDaisy, Gatsby and Nick took the night off from opulent jazz parties in Long Island to make it to "The Great Gatsby" world premiere in NYC.
Oh, we mean Carey, Leo and Tobey. Sorry, wishful thinking!
All the stars of Baz Luhrmann's extravagant "Gatsby" adaptation were in full, glamorous form at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall last night (May 1). Leading man Leonardo DiCaprio did Jay Gatsby proud in a navy blue suit and slicked backed hair. Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher looked beautiful -- as expected. Mulligan opted for classic elegance in a strapless, red tea-length dress, while Fisher was a little more daring in a Dolce & Gabbana floral print, lace gown. Tobey Maguire was on hand also looking handsome in a blue suit, but had an added accessory with his adorable wife Jennifer on his arm.
"The Great Gatsby" is, of course, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel about the wealthy and mysterious Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio), and his love for the very beautiful -- yet very married -- Daisy Buchanan (Mulligan). The 3D spectacle is set in 1920s Long Island, where the excess and opulence of the Jazz Age thrived.
