CATEGORIES Movie NewsWith all the hype surrounding "Iron Man 3" and other developments in the Marvel Universe, it's easy to forget that we have a new "Thor" movie coming out this year! That's right: "Thor: The Dark World" will be out on November 8th on our world and Asgard, and today a new poster has debuted for the hotly anticipated film (directed by "Game of Thrones" vet Alan Taylor).
The poster is pretty standard superhero stuff -- the unreasonably attractive Chris Hemsworth stands, triumphantly, as all sorts of atmospheric nastiness swirls around him (is that ash or snow?), his hammer clutched in his hand, a giant bolt of lighting zigzagging out of it in either direction. The text at the top of the poster reminds us who will be back (Natalie Portman! Tom Hiddleston! Anthony Hopkins!) but besides that we have very little to go on.
"Thor: The Dark World" reportedly takes place a year after the events of "The Avengers," with Thor returning to Asgard to face down a giant foe that threatens the safety of the Nine Realms (and, we're assuming, since Natalie Portman is back, Earth as well). Original cast members set to return also include Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tabanobu Asano, Rene Russo, and Jaimie Alexander. New cast members include Christopher Eccleston as the main bad guy (a ruler of dark elves -- boy those are the worst!) and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as one of the aforementioned dark elves (come on elves!)
We're holding out for the trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" -- due very soon. Zzzzzzap!
