CATEGORIES Movie NewsDylan O'Brien is graduating from high school to "The Maze Runner." The "Teen Wolf" star has accepted the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of the post-apocalyptic book trilogy.
O'Brien, who stars as Stiles on the MTV show, will play the part of Thomas in "The Maze Runner," which focuses on a group of boys trapped in a mysterious maze with no memory of how they got there and no idea how to get out. Thomas helps band the boys together to try to solve the maze and break free from the people in control of them.
The story, originally penned by author James Dashner, has been billed as "Hunger Games"-esque, a comparison that studio 20th Century Fox will no doubt use to its advantage when marketing the film. Director Wes Ball will helm the project.
Appearing alongside O'Brien are Will Poulter, Kaya Scodelario, Aml Ameen, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (who audiences may remember as Liam Neeson's son in "Love Actually"). Filming is expected to begin next month, with a release on Valentine's Day 2014 in mind.
